Goblin gossip

Not much happening in Izzieland lately. Been getting so so many morning shifts. It's good for getting stuff done in the garden (when not procrastinating) but sucks for online activities. With silly day light saving - it just feels strange pottering around in Cyberia when it is still bright outside and that is until 9pm these days. And with the early morning starts - got to be in the serpent basket by midnight and the Izzie is usually tired long before then anyway.
It's only because it's still too hot to slink outside that we are pottering about in Cyberia at this early hour.
Was at the ma's place on Sunday night. She says she's got a job for the Izzie which will means we could drive around in a BMW rather than a broomstick. Yessss. Bad bad lazy Izzie does not read the job advertisements in the papers but Petunia does and this one specifically requires a recent accounting graduate with good grades. The company will consider offering financial assistance in completing the CA (Chartered accountant) qualification to the successful applicant. So it would be very very silly of the Izzie to pass up on this one. So just been scurrying about in our boxes for the academic transcripts so we can photocopy them tomorrow. Online applications are also acceptable but without a scanner - no idea how on earth to get that transcript from here to there.
It's embarrassing at this stage that it's almost two years since the Izzie graduation and we've done zilch in the line of looking for related employment. Doing the books for free for the Potions Mistress does not count as that is merely a way of getting a bit of practice so we don't go totally rusty.
Now that we've been on that Grand European Tour and back again and used up most of all that long service leave, there's no excuse left now for doing nothing about getting a better job except sheer inertia, laziness and procrastination

Date: 2007-01-26 02:32 pm (UTC)The minus side is that with the decadent rate of $$14.60 per hour, you got to be careful with all that free time.
It would be nice to be earning enough so that paying the house goblins would take up 30 something percent of your income rather than the just over 50 which is the case for Izzie
But there seems to be no happy medium. As you say - 9-5 in the Goblin world is viewed as utterly unambitious laziness. Met a fellow goblin the other week and 60 hours is considered normal. Weekends, evenings - whatever it takes. So you can have lots of time and little money or lots of money but no time to spend it but never ever it seems just enough of both. And we all know that for most bean counters - the concept of 'enough' is simply totally and utterly alien to them
