These pretty piccies will warm the cockles of every Hufflepuff heart

A handful of hedgehogs

And now for something a bit more bouncy

new horses for Oz police

(There's an outbreak of equine flu in Oz at the moment so most horses are supposed to be quarantined. So other ways must be found to deal with the grand welcome parties expected for the arrival of King George and his minions in Sydney on Saturday)

Oh, the cuteness of those hedgehogs.

Oh don't worry about us. The police have advised that the newly acquired water cannon will be deployed against anyone who dares to protest about the Shrub's presence. Much more effective it seems than running people over with horses. Today the government was also proudly displaying the new mobile prisons (converted buses) to pack any protestors in to cart them off to the gaol cells vacated by the weekend prisoners especially for the APEC weekend kneesup at Kirribilli and surrounding places. Amazing how much of our money is being spent on new gadgets to keep us in line. Unfortunately equine flu doesn't crossover to other species or I could wish a dose of equine flu on the Rodent and his buddies.

So are they using recycled water in those cannons? Got to do our bit for the environment after all - like washing those feral greenies ;)

Izzie so so loves Piggie Pete's contribution to free speech by proposing legislation to extend secondary boycotts not just to the awful activities of those evil union bosses but to those rabid leftie greenies too who propose such nefarious activities as calling for consumer boycotts against businesses involved in child labour, unsafe work practices, animal cruelty, gm or countless other communist conspiracies against the Gods of the free market

(most miffed indeed that there's been yet again no Question Time this week and must go googling for the above mentioned legislation to add to our folder of infamy)

Scary how many serpents are closet Hufflepuffs.

Oh sweet Satan, how ADORABLE!! (in my other, "real" journal before Diary-x crashed, for four years my icon was always a hedgehog belly-up in the palm of a man´s hand. Cut out from Bild Zeitund, of course *g*)

Reminds me of the old German joke: "Irrtum!" sprach der Igel - und stieg runter von der Bürste ;)

One of Izzie's regular haunts during our sojourn in D'land was a little town called Buxtehude which claimed to be the location of that famous race between the hare and the hedgehog. There were pubs and shops named after hedgehogs and countless statues everywhere.

As you may have suspected, the Izzie is a bit of a closet Hufflepuff - our favorite creatures (as well as snakies and slinking lizards) being the likes of hedgehogs, turtles, koalas and wombats. Especially hegdehogs and the Oz equivalent Echidna.
In fact, when first reading the Potter books was sure that the hat would put this pot bellied sluggish creature into the badger sett. But things changed when the dormant inner serpent awakened and decided to have a say in the matter ;)
