Supposed to be doing updates once a month around the time of New Moon but this intention is more honoured in the breach than the observance

So so annoying. Can always think of plenty of things to squiggle when sitting in the sun or on the bus or anywhere but in Cyberia. But the mood soon evaporates when confronted with the spinning Beachball of Doom or the increasing tendency of Livejournal taking all day to download. It seems much much slower than it used to be. So catching up takes all day too

September has gotten off to a good start for the list. Partly explained that so many activities are things that can only be done in Spring or at least more easily done.
A wonderful time of the year for weeds and wildflowers. And visiting those two green gardens over the weekend has been a lot of food for thought. Got lots of information on grey water recycling and rain water tanks as well as the government brochures and application form for that solar panel rebate which arrived in the post yesterday

Was leafing through the last lot of electricity and water bills and it's becoming increasingly obvious that the rainwater tanks or grey water recycling offers the biggest bang for the buck. The Izzie electricity use varies from an average of two units per day over winter up to four in summer and that goes back quite a while. That's pretty low with very little room for improvement. But it's the water where all the woes are. Apart from last year's disastrous leak while overseas, the meter is still running at a rate that seems very excessive.
Been meaning to read it every day for the last few days after that big bad reading on Tuesday. But it's a bit fogged up with the rain and impossible to read.
The most likely source of trouble would be the tap near the meter which is connected to the leeaky hose. It's very stiff and hard to turn on and off. Will need to do a week's readings and then resort to the trick of turning off the meter overnight for the following week to see if those suspicions are valid.
Will be going into the summer months with our whole allocation of 150 kilolitres at the lowest rate already used. The next batch jumps from 49 cents to 79 cents per kilolitre which is still very cheap when you consider just how valuable the stuff really is. But if 800 litres mysteriously disappear each day, then it soon adds up.

Was supposed to go to the Egyptian artefacts exhibition in the art gallery last Friday. They've got a whole pile of stuff on tour from the Louvre museum. It's been in town since 21st July. Been too cranky or sick for most of August. Should really go tomorrow if it is raining.

On the book front, making very little progress due to the very bad habit of reading library books rather than those in our own collection. And if they are not science fiction books, then they just don't count for list purposes.
And the munchies - bad habits die hard. Had a veritable feast today at Juicy Beetroot. But supposed to be copying and making DIY versions of their stuff and not just buying it.
Got some basil today so there's no excuse other than sheer laziness for not ticking pesto off the list

Let's hope there'll be lots more big black lines on that list this time next month
