Hitting the Hay
17/10/2007 12:36 pmIzzie's officially on holiday since 1pm yesterday. It was a gloriously sunny day and had a good day at work too. Was a lovely leisurely slink back to the Lair sniffing the weeds on the way. It was made especially enjoyable by knowing that it's the last time for 3 weeks.
The grand plans for the afternoon were a quick snooze in the sun until just before 3pm. The man from City Farmers would be arriving any time after that with 15 bales of straw, 4 of pea straw and one big bag of blood and bone to feed our green little beasties
Would spend several hours tossing the straw around and setting up a proper pumpkin patch out the back before finally spending the first hour of dark - between 7 and 8 finally finishing that infernal tax return before rewarding ourselves with a long slink online.
The first day of holidays has traditionally been a good day for Izzie to get a whole pile of stuff done along the lines of paperwork, decluttering and general domesticity.
It was very tempting to go back for a snooze after the straw man left but resisted the temptation to stay on track with the grand plan. But dearest Petunia had other ideas. She rang around 3.30 pm and in spite of knowing that Izzie had the straw and would want to get it all out before today's predicted rain - just kept rattling on about the various activities of the neighbours and her doggie babies. So, it was finally 4.30 before she decided that she's got important things to do and the Izzie escaped her clutches.
Was pretty miffed at this delay in our plans or the missed chance of another snooze - either of which would have been a more enjoyable and productive use of time
So ended up pottering in the garden and building hay bale vegie beds until just before 7pm rather than 6pm as originally intend. Scrubbed the scales, sat in the garden with a glass of champers toasting a reasonably productive day before our mind turned to those nasty taxes.
Just then the phone rang. Wondering who it could possibly be. Should have known - Petunia yet again! At least it wasn't a whole hour this time but still enough to put Izzie totally out of the previous productive mood. She managed to put a damper on what was otherwise a very good day. Made damnned sure it would be not more of the same today and left the phone disconnected after our evening's dialup diversion in Cyberia.
Did finally get started on those taxes again this morning only to discover that we need to get our paws on that silly supplement section
Needless to say - as happens every time - it's the thought of doing the thing that is worse than the actual thing itself.
Well. A whole bunch of things to get ticked off the big 101 list. Lots of stuff done lately but just never seem to get around to updating the list.
One good thing about being on holidays - should be able to get a whole bunch of things done online. Got so so much catching up to do - here, there and everywhere.
