Puggles and Power Bills
30/10/2007 10:30 pmIzzie's had a grand old lazy day today until deciding to take a quick peek in Cyberia. Been nothing but a constant barrage of bloomin' spinning beachballs from hell. Enough to call it quits and slink into the darkness
Just been peeking in the local paper. Three most fascinating stories - the first is Mr Lucky Lotto and his $$30 million. He was smart enough to keep out of the picture so they just showed the fella who sold it to him - the same man that Iz once had to convince to hand over a registered parcel. Not any old parcel but one addressed to Izzie's online incarnation. The Imperius curse comes in useful sometimes.
Then there was a pretty piccie of an utterly adorable puggle. Not sure who invents such silly names - a piggle would be more appropriate. A puggle is a baby echidna which is a sort of hedgehog that lays eggs
And last but not least - some very cranky customers who went and did the green thing by signing up to buy renewable electricity from the local power company. They expected to pay an extra 3 cents per unit but not to get a notice telling them that it's now going to cost an extra 1.4 cents on top of that (plus GST) while the standard unit price has remained the same. Izzie also got the same letter but knew that the price has not gone up for at least 5 years. But it is outrageous that only the renewable one is going up and not the other. In a sane world, it's the coal generated electricity which should be more expensive. That will be going up in 2009 once the election is over and probably by some ridiculous amount. That's one of the main reasons Izzie wants to turn the roof into a power plant - getting in before the big mad rush.
Izzie wonders if that means that we will get the extra 1.4 cents too when those pretty panels are finally installed and start spinning the meter backwards. Sure - the new meter itself will cost around $$300 which for Izzie is one years' worth of an electricity bill
Other than slinking about some of this serpent's favorite places and indulging in a lot of reminiscing, the big event of the day was finally taking a peek into a pretty little box that we'd kept for such an auspicious occasion. Sitting in the sunshine near the serpent's special tree in the garden of a certain lunatic asylum, finally unwrapped one seriously snaky set of cards - the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot. The book is gorgeous too full of all sorts of fascinating information. Not just detailed pictures and descriptions of each card - but also a 'veve' for each one.
Only peeked at half the cards today - will save the rest for tomorrow.
Time to slink off before the spinning beachballs of doom bugger up what was an otherwise beautiful day
