izmeina: curly green leaf spiral (koru)

The serpent seems to have finally cast off the evil beastie dementors after two weeks of the visit from hell.
Was getting seriously desperate and was almost going to resort to a request for babysitting for the weekend. Oh and of course the Izzie would drop by on Sunday evening to pay the bills and pick them up

It looks like a combined effort of George Orwell and Piers Anthony scared the scabby clammy beasties away. Poor Winston Smith got arrested yesterday so maybe they decided to linger around him instead.
Just desserts because the serpent cannot help but suspect that listening to that particular book reading was a temptation for them to take up lurking in the first place

The tiny sliver of the serpent soul that remains as an independent observer watching the assorted critters coming and going has noticed long ago that the demonic monsters invade slowly and insidiously over a period of usually a week or so but then depart suddenly with no rhyme nor reason. Two weeks is unusually long in the normal scheme of things but as well as the typical pattern of between two and four visits a year usually inconveniently coinciding with periods of annual leave (the first week of nano wrimo is pretty much a given) the tenancy from hell would have to be pretty much most of 2001 where they stayed for pretty much the whole year. Of course we did not know them by name then. But that all changed in December 2001 and pretty soon their days were numbered after that. They were gone in a flash of green lightses and did not dare to show their scabby little skulls for nearly three years after that. It was one seriously surreal experience

Will be soon slinking out into the garden to drink to their demise but not before listening to a program on Radio National about Nirvana and other assorted grungy stuff

Just peeked at the playlist. Izzie just loves this version but a certain Cyberian Cat will most likely consider it sacrilege and an abomination in the eyes of the Dark Lord
Smells like Queen Spirit

The serpent prefers this version because there's no screaming, you can make out the words and Patti Smith could sing the telephone directory and give you goosebumps. And the banjo is so gorgeous

But back to slinking and stuff. Spent the day in King's Park which is truly one of the most amazing and sacred places in this city and pretty much anywhere the Izzie has ever slinked. It's not just any old park but overlooks the city and has so much original bushland as well as gorgeous landscaped areas full of the most wickedly wonderful weeds most of which are flowering right now.

Today was also the start of the spring festival plant sale. Indulged in a bunch of banksias and wattles. Wattles grow like weeds and produce their own nitrogen. Even a brown fingers can get them to grow and thrive. Banksias are a bit more cranky even though this is their home territory

But the other thing giving this serpent a spring in her slink is being finally inspired on the nanowrimo front. Decided to tweek a bit and instead of trying to connect the four randomly drawn cards for each chapter to each other, decided to link them to theme card for each chapter instead. Finally got lots more inspiration. Now it only remains to scribble out 88 index cards with three possible plot points on each - one relating to the card immediately before, one to the card immediately after and the other and probably most productive - to the theme of the particular chapter
Needless to say Death, The Devil and the Tower are most inspiring indeed. Who needs serial killers when such delightful possibilities are preprogrammed into the schedule?

Tomorrow will be off to the Hulbert Street festival full of wierd greenies and the wickedly wonderful Painted Fish garden. Will be there on Sunday too and some of it should manage to sneak its way into the November nano adventures.
But then the holiday ends and it's back to work on Monday
