Slinking in the sunshine
Izzie is presently lurking in the courtyard of our favorite lunatic asylum. Hard to believe but actually had to move our spot because it was too sunny.
Tried once again to squiggle with the old quill but it is getting very grumpy indeed. Maybe it is getting fussy and has delusions of being Dolores's Quill of Doom - or more likely - it's getting old and grey and needs a new nib. After all, been using it at least five years - best and most reliable quill we have ever had. It did come with two or three replacement nibs if we remember rightly
Problem with calligraphy quills is that once you've used them, going back to nasty scratchy scrawny old biros or felt tip pens - even if they do have green ink - is utterly and absolutely awful. And in Izzie's case - totally illegible.
So, figures that we will type our ritual squiggles instead. It is yet another glorious crisp crunchy sunny day. Truly heavenly weather. Was a bit cranky after the bus - so many drivers just love slamming on the brakes at every possible opportunity and for some reason, the Iz - has always had an appalling sense of balance but seems to have become more sensitive lately to sudden stopping and starting, low noisy rumblings and bus drivers who think that they are on NASA space training courses.
Yesterday was working 7-1pm. Had a pretty good day in fact. The morning yawning and vows to slink in the sack the minute we get home soon gave way to a crisp and crunchy day and a return to our original intention to visit the Secret Garden Cafe and lounge about in the sunshine catching up on all the Goblin gossip and commentary in the papers from Tuesday's budget
Did try a quick serpent snooze in the garden around 2pm but Petunia put a quick end to that by phoning just as we were about to doze off.
After the last few months of enjoying the deliciousness of the evil green wholesome munchies of Annalakshmi and the Juicy Beetrroot Cafe, got to thinking that twice a week is not enough. We wants these tasty morsels lots more often. There's a big bag of chickpeas and various beans and lentils in the pantry so we got no excuse. Have heard horror stories that it takes 90 mins or so to cook chickpeas so we usually cheat and get them out of a tin. Had the bright idea to put them on while pottering online and they were done in less than 40 minutes. Most likely helped that they had been soaking for over a day. Amazing how similar they are to mushy peas but much nicer.
Will have a go at making DIY hummus as most of the stuff in the shops - while it tastes nice is really rather sloppy and not the nice thick pate consistency that the real thing shold be. DIY also means more sesame seeds and more garlic than the off the shelf varieties.
Musst be going. Time for the utterly evil Question Time on Reichstag Radio. One last chance to hear the Rat before he departs on his grand American adventures.
