Blowing in the Wind
Some history geek DJ played this on the radio this morning
I wonder what sort of monstrosity will be named in honour of Mary Trump
It is kind of creepy that this anniversary turns up the day after the explosions in Beirut. That was about 2.5 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate and could be heard in Cyprus some several hundred miles away. The Hiroshima bomb was 13 kiloton which is pipsqueak stuff by today's standards
It is astonishing to think that such flammable material could be left in a warehouse for 6 years or so. Didn't these people ever do chemistry at school. It literally was a ticking time bomb
There have been many bushfires in Australia triggered by people welding on fire ban days because somehow welding doesn't quite count as fire in most folks minds but this is a whole new level of craziness
It was probably already prohibitively expensive to get any sort of insurance in Beirut if even possible at all. So all the people killed or injured or who have their houses destroyed will be left to pick up the pieces.
A lot of people may also suffer severe hearing loss or brain damage from the shock wave. And the force of this explosion is positively pea sized compared to some of the stuff that can be unleashed from the infamous Football.

Re: Toxic sludge
As for that waddling pile of toxic waste, I have no idea if the midnight plotting and planning of Mark McGowan and minions will once and for all patch the giant hole or if they are just digging themselves a bigger one. If there is so much as a nano particles sized loop hole, that toxic toad will find it and milk it
I cannot help but wonder if the Palmersaurus has a stash of brown envelopes that he gives to judges because there is one Canberra HC judge - some old geezer McHugh or something like that who keeps ruling in his favour
It says a lot that the dispute went way back to Colin Barnett and his cronies. Even the mine loving COALition turned down the palmer proposals as being inadequate, substandard or whatever dogs breakfast. Not once but twice and now the loser demands compensation for his own incompetence
Likewise with the border war. Not sure if it got reported over East but some journalists were asking why McGowan was poking the bear by refusing to let him in to meet Creepy Cormoran way back in May to discuss secret goblin business and poisoning half the country with his stash of hydroxychloroquine. It would have saved all the drama
It turns out that CP had not even bothered to apply for an exemption. He got his pilot to do all the paperwork. The pilot listed CP as his next of kin - relationship - HUSBAND!!! The paperwork was so shonky that the officials just dismissed it as a hoax
So instead of resubmitting the forms like a normal person, this loser just chucks a YUUUUUGE hissy fit and says "SEE you in court"
I was listening to that interview on RN Breakfast Friday morning. He was just so rude and nasty to Hamish Mc who was doing a Jonathan Swan on him
It was actually the nickel mine that first got him on my goblin radar back in 2016
I never forgot how he shafted all those workers just weeks before Christmas and then kept blaming the Queensland govt. He had another creepy Clive nephew who was in and out of the courts and the pair of them kept blaming each other
On Saturday 1st August he had full page adverts on pages 2 and 3 of the West Australian. It was like a yellow rag to a bull. 2 years ago, my sister and I paid $150 for a 4 line notice in the memorial section way at the back of the paper and here this piece of filth was with two whole pages of the best real estate of the weekend paper. The very SAME paper that has those lovely front covers. So both sides are being a bit hypocritical but since it is pretty much the ONLY paper left here, it does not leave the loser with much choice unless he wants to plaster himself all over billboards
More than a year ago he was also on some vindictive campaign against the state and he kept calling Mr McGowan Mike instead of Mark.
Just like trump, he is sloppy, and lazy, pays no attention to detail and then blames everyone else when his mega deals crumble to dust on account of his total refusal to do his homework
But it was the election adverts where he freeloaded off the old United Australia Party and tried to claim Robert Menzies as a member that was really the moment that he out donalded the Donald
I actually kept some of his 2019 election stuff because it was just so over the top
He makes Alan Bond look like Einstein. I used to think that Bond was the Oz trump but the toad gets that dubious distinction
PS The cockroach was on the cover of last Friday's paper and he had yet another 2 page spread on page 12 and 13 the very same day!
Re: Toxic sludge
Yup Palmer is a Z-grade shonk. His career started as a real estate salesman on the Gold Coast, one of the originals of Joh's White Shoe Brigade, selling swampland sight unseen to people from the southern states wanting a slice of the Gold Coast. According to Wikipedia - Palmer studied law, journalism and politics at the University of Queensland from 1973 to 1975, but did not finish the course. He later completed a Diploma of Law through the Queensland Bar Board, and worked as a clerk and interviewing officer for the Public Defender's Office. So he like the Dumpster is a failure when it comes to education and by the sound of it was a little rich boy. His father was a successful businessman and Clive probaby has been trying to outdo him but is a bit of a failure at that too - the bankrupted Nickel Refinery and the Coolum resort, had his licence to control a football team revoked to protect the integrity of the sport. He is also a bit of a criminal as he has been charged with fraud as well. I'm sure The Dumpster must have a had few accusations of fraud levelled against him but he would probably have had a smart lawyer to let him slither out of it. Then of course the other major project Palmer was promoting, Titanic II has sunk without trace.
The most laughable thing I saw in his CV on wikipedia was - In 2008, Palmer was appointed adjunct professor of management at Bond University on the Gold Coast. Says something about the quality of Bond University, though he also got an adjunct professorship at Deakin University which is a quite respectble institution in comparison to the degree factory at Bond University. I can only wonder, "What were they thinking?"
