Sniffing the weeds

Izzie is feeling ever so snoozy. But must not waste yet another evening in unconscious decadence.
There's so much doom and gloom that we hardly know where to begin. The inner goblin has been most amused indeed. But that's in the big bad world. Things are much chirpier and cheerful in the daily life of this serpent. Had never realised just what a strange effect the appearance of small green things can have. Most insidious indeed.

All sorts of weeds are budding and blooming and the creatures are stirring. But there's rain on the way. Izzie's second attempt at tiptoeing through the tulips has been delayed once due to lack of funds and three times due to rain. There's only two days left and here's hoping that Thursday will be the big day.
Officially - Monday was the end of the Izzie planting season but there'll be one last bit of temptation at the weekend wildflower market. But Izzie will not be so ridiculously decadent as last year. Snaffled 20 something little weeds in pots at last year's festival but only five are still alive one year later. This is the main reason for the new rule of no planting after the spring equinox.
Of course - that rule only applies to trees, perennials and Australian plants - stuff that is expected to look after itself.
Had a lot more luck with the mandarin and kaffir lime planted at the same time - both which are still happy and healthy and dripping with the gorgeous aroma of citrus blossoms. But it is necessary to make a special sniff since it's the orange blossom fragrance that presently dominates the night air at the Lair

But soon the sizzle will start and the still delicate sunlight will turn harsh and nasty. Then Izzie will slink inside and spend lots more time in Cyberia

Learnt other stuff from last year too like planting pumpkin seeds at the end of October is a bad bad idea. The babies are already out in their new patch and on their third leaves and soon to be followed by the very special Atlantic Giants in their little jiffy pots which will get planted just after new moon on Monday.

The post office have got interesting stuff in for Christmas including more of those wonderful Graeme Base picture books and some ABC gardening book sets. Never mind that Izzie already has two of the four books which appeared last year in a different configuration. They will go in the ma's Christmas stocking. But one of the new ones is about creating a habitat garden for all those gorgeous Oz creepie crawlies.
Yesss. 13 weeks until Christmas. Truly is scary.
