Slinking and Sizzling

Finally looking forward to an evening catching up on all the gossip in Cyberia and sorting out the enormous mess that is the Izzie list of online courses. Had enrolled to do a retake of Cryptography as it should be so much easier second time around especially after learning a smattering of the parseltongue known as Python. There was also the fascinating "Learning how to learn" also on the Coursera list. Did that one recently and did very well but did not have the time to devote to the discussion forums due to other distractions.

The problem was, I had signed up for them way back in November naively thinking that January is an excellent month for online education as it's much too hot to do anything else. That little unexpected detour to Amsterdam for Christmas changed everything.

So first things first. Got to jump ship on two courses and download videos for the others, check emails and finally get around to doing some serious catch up squiggling.

But the weather has other plans. Instead of sunshine, I have returned to endless days of everyday grey. Not the miserable drizzling depressing cold and wet winter days of Amsterdam but big fat sweltering oppressive hot and humid grey clouds. It's like Singapore has suddenly moved south. It's been raining so that should clear up the air but along with the rain there's also been thunder and lightning. It's sizzling and crackling like crazy and it's time to put the Precious to bed, to pull the plug and sit outside with a glass of red to watch the sky go snap, crackle, sizzle and pop.

You're experiencing what we usually get in February - a sauna every day. Though this last week has been pleasantly cool. Due to a change on the weekend, it will back to growing mould again soon.

You're just back in time for the final roasting of the Toad, and it seems the same WA MP who helped in the toppling of dearest Malcolm from the Opposition Leader's role is active again (with the help of some very pissed off LNP pollies), but I think he's more interested in installing his fellow WA MP as PM, the two Mals aren't likely to get a look in. I wonder how long it will take to topple Tones? Perhaps the bunch of old Howard deadwood in the cabinet will circle the wagons to protect him knowing they'll be for the high jump if Tones is pushed from the throne.

Toadish Tales

Toasted toads are so tasty. Between your wonderful offerings from Moon Dog and Petunia's phone calls from Oz informing the serpent of the Knightmare of Oz, got to googling while still in Amsterdam and managed to listen to some of Monday's sad and pathetic press club speech. Kept falling asleep for some inexplicable reason.

It looks like the events in Queensland have gotten all the little libs in frenzied fits of fear of getting their arses fried.
I am so enjoying watching the mad monk getting tangled up in a wicked web of his own making. All that awfulness of his years as the attack dog of the Liberal party are coming back to haunt him.

One can only dream, but this serpent would so love to see Eric Abetz put up his hand for the top job. That would be so much fun.

Still melting with this miserable weather. Four more weeks before the sizzling season is likely to be over.

The only problem is that if the Toad is pushed off his throne, they will just replace him with another reptile who might have a more superficially attractive nature but at the heart of it he/she will be just as awful as the Toad. Abetz is one of the old deadwood from the defunct Howard cabinet, so he is unlikely to be considered. There is still a smidgeon of intelligence among the nervous nellies in the Libs party room to prevent that. The lady with the laser eyes from WA might be up for it, as Malcolm T. is till heartily disliked by a fair portion of the Libs.
