Today we were back to the high 30s again. A very icky sticky and muggy 36 which actually feels a lot worse than a dry 39.
There were a few drops of rain just now which cleared the air and it is supposed to be raining for the next five days. After the events over east during the last few weeks, I keep thinking - be careful what you wish for.
But it is crazy so late in the year to walk on grass and hear it crunch like cornflakes or to feel the heat radiating off the roads, walls and driveways.
I remember when I moved into my first flat after coming to Oz only to find cockroaches scurrying everywhere. They had somehow sneakily stayed hidden when I was flat hunting. In the ancient days when it was a renters' market.
Aside from the ghastly smelling stink bombs, all you have to do is make your place less desirable than next door. But that is a lot easier said than done when everywhere is flooded and your joint becomes extra interesting due to being on higher ground.
It is hard when you have to choose between mold and critters. There was an interesting story about mould this morning on RN Life Matters. I think it was directly in response to what has happened to all those houses after the floods.
It was a very common problem in Britain and Ireland. Very depressing and nasty stuff.
I heard a creepy phrase the other day - concerning war. The Samson strategy - If it looks like you are going to lose, go out with a bang and bring the house down.
Just the sort of thing that egomaniac Putin would do.
I would pay very close attention to the accusations he makes against Ukraine. George Soros/ Hunter Biden funded Biolabs in Ukraine are all over Twitter and Fox News too I suspect. It's like GWB and Weapons of Mass Destruction all over again.
What he accuses others of, he is definitely doing himself. Also like in Syria, one of the main triggers for using chemical weapons is to compensate for a shortage of soldiers.
But to have all those dodgy old Soviet nuclear reactors sitting around in Ukraine is just so scary. They are like sitting ducks.
I guess Putin thought his Blitzkrieg would be over in 4 days. Hopefully every extra day it drags on is one more teabag in Putin's pot.
God knows what the next 4 weeks will bring. I guess we will have the dreaded election date by then.
