Strange days in Izzieland. Last Friday, found ourselves in some strange trance like state and was most delighted indeed to discover that it has continued right through the week including today. We did get slightly snarky with today's icky sticky clammy weather but nowhere near the usual expected for such conditions

It's kind of hard to describe - the nearest being like surrounded by an extra thick layer of skin so that all the nasties can't' get in. Not quite floating and warm and fuzzy - more like being detached and indifferent but not in a cold hearted way. In fact, it is easier to be nice and friendly and to get more things done with less energy, for the simple reason that the supplies of serpent energy are not being used attempting to fend off Dementors, vampires and other assorted miserable creatures.

Now the trick is working out how to find ourselves in such a state by choice rather than accident so that when we do crash and go back to the grumpies, will. be able to push a button and get back on the broomstick again.
Being in the present is one of the trademarks of this delightful state as well as feeling crisp and toasty like having just gotten out of the shower and snuggled into bed. The grumps are usually accompanied by hot or cold clamminess and the ability to be irritated by the silliest thing.

Our new policy of Constant Vigilance - of not entertaining miserable thoughts - certainly does help but there seems to be more to it than that.

Things got so crazy that we even went on a decluttering blitz - thanks to the evil influence and example of a certain serpent. Got tons of paper jungle sorted or chucked and set up the big bad box of owls so that we have all the things we want to send to friends all in one central spot instead of all over the living room and never in the mind's eye when packing up parcels. Who knows - we might even attack the pantry next. It could certainly do with a bit of a spring clean.

Petunia popped by yesterday and was shocked at the sight of empty spaces on various tables - so so unlike the Izzie. She also wants to meet the Izzie tomorrow and go to the Australia Day fireworks which certainly is a first. We will be meeting at the Secret Garden Cafe at 4pm and then pottering off to the river which is the prettiest and best spot to watch. Izzie will be at the cafe well before 4pm - probably 1ish or so after dropping in to the Italian delicatessen to get some cheese, sundried tomatoes, basil and other nibblies. Izzie is bringing the munchies and the ma is bringing the bottlies.

After today's ickie stickiness and yesterday's storms, thunder and lightening, is a relief that a rather pleasant crisp and crunchy 27 celsius is predicted for tomorrow. A nice change from the odd 38c stinkers that we used to have. Funny - everywhere else may have global warming but this year dreary old Dursleyville has had the coolest summer in living memory. Izzie is most delighted indeed with this state of affairs.

just been listening to a fascinating program about southpaws. Amazing just how many insulting terms there are for sinister serpents such as the Izzie. Can think of at least 5 languages where the word for left also has connotations of evil deviousness or just plain clumsiness in the best of cases and where the right are associated with correctness, legality and just plain decency. But was a bit peeved that none of the guests addressed this most interesting issue. Maybe it is just the usual explanation - the tyranny of the majority
The two Chinese house elves both associate lefthandedness with cleverness but the Europeans and westerners in general have a rather nastier attitude.
