Yesss. There are certain old Aussie traits for a fair go and decency that still remain in spite of their attempts of the last 11 years to eliminate them. Nothing is sadder than seeing that lot so desperate in their attempts to remain in power. It might make folks wonder what nefarious plans they have for next time that will not be announced in any list of promises or bag of goodies. After all - they were most secretive indeed about Serfchoices and there'll be a whole bunch of liberal voters out there who were most peeved that little act of sneakery. Not that they should have been surprised.
Not to mention the evil genius of meaning one thing in the spirit but quite another in the letter - yesss. The very clever "Interest rates will always be lower than under a Labour government" Iz tweeked on to the significance of the choice of those particular words at the time. So, technically - for once the Rat did not lie but folks will remember quite well what the impression was supposed to be and feel cheated no matter what level of sophistry the Rat cares to engage in
