Meanwhile in the Wild West of Oz, there has been only 1 confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 10 days. There was one yesterday which ruined the big fat Zero streak.
So the State Government have announced that as of Monday 18th they will be lifting the restrictions on restaurants and cafes which are currently take away only. They will allow seating of up to 20 people based on 4 square metres per person. I guess this means that cafes with outdoor areas will be the most likely to re-open. I think libraries and museums may also be opened again with strict limits on numbers.

It is so sad to see those folks overseas who in wanting everything yesterday end up with the worst of both worlds. Everything re-opens but hardly any customers turn up and the virus is running rampant

One thing that made a big difference, the govt chose to shut stuff down here to get it over and done with but made it easier by paying employers to keep people on the payroll. The money is supposed to then get passed on to the staff. Basically stay at home money up to max of $1,500 per fortnight because people cannot be expected to live on thin air.
There have been some employers caught trying to skim and scam this scheme but in general, people seem to be acting in good faith

There are quite a few people left out of this arrangement such as people who have been in casual jobs for less than 12 months and overseas students stranded here

In the USA the goblins gave out ONE OFF payments of $1,200 which many people still have not got. The checks are scrawled with a certain polygraph readout signature and those who get the money by direct deposit still have to endure a campaign letter from the same ME monster. But craziest of all, this money is actually a forward payment from tax refunds so is their own money in the first place

If you have no job and only that money to last for months and of course no healthcare anymore, it is no wonder people are so desperate for things to reopen because they face a stark choice between sickness or starvation

I'm wondering now how long it will take before all my workplaces are once again open for business. It has been so strange having weeks and weeks of nothing to do and all day to do it. Of course there is always housework and gardening, but none of those activities have set times or schedules and that is what makes all the difference
