izmeina: a big eared American eagle listening to everything (conspiracy)

Today it has been more obvious than usual that watching the US election unfold while in the Wild West of Oz does have its disadvantages
It is a 12 hour time difference now ticked up to 13 thanks to pesky daylight saving over there

This morning the opening score was 235 for Biden and 213 for trump which had been quite a change from the last count
Joe slowly SNOOZED his way up to 253 before settling for the night at the ever so tantalizing 264 seats while the Teflon Don had barely crawled from 213 to 214. So it was looking increasingly clear that this was on account of the mail in ballots being added to the totals

I sure had a sigh of relief since the numbers looked so seriously scary on Wednesday. But i still cannot get over the fact that there is such a small difference between the total vote counts.

I had naively assumed that Joe Biden would get 60% of the popular vote while being unsure about the EC due to the ease with which it can be manipulated, hacked etc

I had also naively assumed that if many US Americans did not give a damn about kids being stolen from their parents on the border, police violence or trump trying to trash their healthcare that at least they would care about unemployment and the totally malevolently incompetent response to the virus

And those raw numbers were looking nothing at all like the 60 - 40 score that I had imagined

I just do not understand. Unless you are Mark Zuckerberg, a Koch Bro, Mitch McConnell or some inner circle trumPET, how could you possibly think that your life now is better than what it was 4 years ago. Let aione the lives of other people who are on the trump list of Untermenschen

Since around 3pm I had been obsessively refreshing the horse race scores hoping to see the magic number of 270 before finally realizing that the pollsters must be in bed for the night (such a shameless lack of devotion to duty)

I will hit the sack at midnight and by 8am local time, I guess the party will be over

I have just the thing to celebrate.
When I turned up at the charity shop yesterday to do my usual morning shift, someone had set aside a pile of books. I picked up the first one - an exceedingly shabby paperback with the cover half eaten by some God forsaken creature and the pages a pale crackly shade of faded yellow

It was "The Art of the Deal" My first instinct was to toss the filthy disgusting thing into the recycling bin but then I thought better. No. I am going to snaffle it for a very special Book burning party!

The other books were black and gold emblazoned with the Trump University logo. And pictures of you know who plastered all over them. In perfect condition as if never ever used. I do wonder what the poor sucker paid for them. I must go google. I could not help but be reminded of the court case that ordered a $25 MILLION settlement against trump university for FRAUD!!! I am sure that was in 2016 and in any normal times that alone would be sufficient to keep Don the Con out of the race in the first place

Hell. There was a contender for the GOP nomination who got scratched many moons ago for a slightly strange howl. He must be feeling really hard done by now

Soon the pity parties will ramp up and Dodgy Don will be out and about with his fog horn summoning the hounds of hell and his Hufflepuff Hitlers

I wonder how soon the bubble will burst once it is clear that the power has been turned off and trump is on limited time

How long will it take before he slinks into his Downfall Bunker and plots and plans punishment for the ungrateful nation that rejected him?

Because hell hath no fury like a malignant nihilistic narcissist scorned

It doesn't require fury for The Dumpster to be malicious. It is an almost automatic response. How else to explain the complete disregard for the health of American citizens but then the first of those to succumb in big numbers were in Democrat states, so there would be a certain degree of satisfaction to see his fellow New Yorkers suffer.

I would think if you look at the population of the whole country, not just the swing states it might be more like a 60-40 split. The large numbers of Democrat voters on the west coast and in the North Eastern part of the Atlantic Coast would balance it out.

I think the Trump fans are just as strangers to reality as The Dumpster. They truly live in some fantasy world that if they wish hard enough it will come true and they will whinge and whine and carry on like cranky babies if they don't get what they think they are entitled to in their strange Trumpster fantasy world.

Trump absolutely lost the popular vote, but the quirky little Electoral College keeps him from losing as badly as he really did and kept us all on edge wondering if he'd actually prevail.

He is absolutely going to make his exit as painful as possible. He's a narcissist. He's going to want to "punish" us for not showing the loyalty he believes he deserves. He's going to spend the next two months demanding recounts and suing states for voter fraud, and deny an additional stimulus. And that's at the very least.

But I will watch with relish if he needs to be dragged out of the White House by force. It may get him the greatest ratings of his life!

It will also be painful dealing with his supporters who are going to feel even more "oppressed" now than they did under Obama. I don't think Biden has the balls to make them really feel that imagined hurt (he's of the old guard that just keeps compromising and compromising so that philosophically, our left wing is basically just Republicans who support abortion) but some of the newer legislators do. It's going to be a long uphill battle trying to tamp down that toxic mess, but that even Fox News was cringing at reporting Trump's tantrums during the election and not denying Biden's wins gives me hope that some of them are waking up to the abusive relationship and might find themselves relieved to be living in a post-Trump world.
