Izzie slinks into the darkness :(
13/09/2003 12:34 pmThis stupid page just disapparated and I could NOT be bothered typing it all again.
Just to say that Izzie will not be lurking in Cyberia as much as usual for the forseeable future.
Izzie has three portals to Cyberia. The first is at the Min of Fin. It is fast and free (well included in our goblin training fees) but these days reserved particularly for nasty goblin projects such as the terribly tedious group project and presentation concerning the role of bean counters in assisting their clients to enter the wonderful world of e-commerce.
Then there is the evil Izzie website project due on 10 October. Since the server is there too, make sense to do web stuff at the Min as I can test out stuff as I go along.
The second place is the nasty DNA netcafe with speakers blaring techno, hip hop and rap crap as well as lots of squealing pimply young hormonal things saving the universe and mowing down terrorists. Izzie usually tops up her weekly ration of five hours on Tightarse Tuesdays where you can get your hours half price so Iz buys enough for the week.
This time there is a slight problem. Izzie is broke! There is presently 2 silver sickles in the piggie bank and payday is Thursday. So the Izzie remaining ration of 4 hour now has to last until NEXT Tuesday instead of this one.
And then there is Petunia's place where Izzie lurks lately overnight on Sundays. The ma has the computer and Izzie buys the prepaid internet hours. And guess what? There is only 2 left! And of course I cannot get any more until Thursday. I did see that one of the places where I do get them has a special offer of two for the price of one so I will be able to get 60 hours and pay only $$35 for them. That is so damn cheap that I might just buy two of them.
So Izzie won't be chatting with cats or anyone for a while :(
Oh.....I HATE being so broke. Did have a bit of cash to play with when the stupid boring Gryffindors next door jilted Izzie with the new fence. The sad saga of them wanting to change the colour at the last minute. I had already redrawn the money to pay the fence man. Instead of putting it back on the house, says -oh will use it towards the water bills and council rates. Needless to say, ended up finding other stuff to spend it on. Now the water, council rates and goblin fees have been paid (yet more redraws) the piggie bank is now on a diet and Iz has to live off what is left over from her house elf job after paying the bank. Part of the problem is that I am paying a ridiculous 70% of my after tax income in mortgage repayments but then again I do want to have the place paid off by 2008. And anyway, makes far more sense to pay extra and then redraw for the really big bills- for an effective interest rate of 6% than to put the bills money aside in the bank for a pissy interest rate of 2% if I am lucky and then lose one third of that in tax! That is going backwards.
But nevertheless, saving first and spending what is left over, painful and all as it is - is the only way to make progress. The simple truth is, no matter how much you earn, there is ALWAYS too much month at the end of the money.
They have also changed the redraw rules so that the minimum redraw is now 2000 instead of the 500 it used to be. That means Izzie is doing her damnedest to avoid temptation. And after the grand indulgence of that trip to Middle Earth back in February, gotta be good from now on. Of course you can redraw the 2000 but put back 1700 of it but never seems to work that way. How often have I taken out 500 with the intention of putting back 350 of it just so I would not be in the situation like I am at the moment? - life is too short to scrimp and save etc etc and of course it never did go back. Doing this three or four times in one year sure adds up.
Well...there is now 3 hours and 30 mins left on the DNA clock so it is time to potter off home and get ready to go to my house elf job at 3pm. Sssso so lucky that I got a bike to get there and not a car.
