Ickle Izzie is most amused by the musings of Dr Mohammed Mahathir. Talk about tossing a pork chop in to a Synagogue.
Iz used to think in her flobberworm days that it would be horrible to be Jewish because you just about NEVER get treated as an individual person and always as a memher of a group. You are either a Child of God who can never do anything wrong or the Personification of Satan himself. You are just about never treated as a normal human being. All your behaviour is attributed as being 'typically Jewish'

Just could not help but think of the amazing election posters from the 1930's from the NSDAP that I seen at a museum exhibition in Durmieland. Talk about having it both ways. The posters aimed at workers showed greedy fat cigar smoking hooknosed Bosses with big bags of cash exploiting poor workers and the very same party also had posters appealing to business owners to help smash International Jewish communism with the obligatory caricatures of Marx and Trotsky.
Strange how they were both printed by the same party.

It is almost always advisable (especially for Dr M) to pick an enemy that is not too easily recognisable such as Chinese or Indians so that you can determine the rules yourself for just what characteristics get some one into the list of the unchosen.
People just do not seem to realize that the disproportionate number of Jewish artists, musicians, scientists, doctor and other such intellectuals is not just part of a grand conspiracy but because these people were simply not allowed to own land, join certain armies or trade guilds and hundreds of everyday activities that most people take for granted. If you are restricted to one area, it is most likely that you will become very good at it.
Sure even now many Arabs are making the familiar accusations against Palestinian refugees (many of them run businesses) that they are greedy money grabbing wimps who get others to do their dirty work. Never taking into consideration that they are actually not allowed to join some of the neighbouring armies.

And all this is a bit rich coming from some one who gives countless freebies and preferences to ethnic Malay students for education at the expense of the Chinese and Indians, most of whom have to go overseas to get a place in a university. Iz did used to wonder why there were so many Malaysians studying in the Ministry of Chinese or Indian descent but the Malays themselves were conspicuous by their absence.
Apparently this system is now finally going to be changed.
Iz thinks that everyone should be given the same opportunities but to insist on equal outcomes is stupid. You can start with women, then go on to various nationalities or religions at extend it to a ridiculous level. Folks that get given everything they want without having to work for it usually take their privileges for granted if they do not downright abuse them.
At the end of the day many people think the fairest system is the one that gives their little Johnnie or Jane all the perks and will use all sorts of rationalizations to justify what is essentially an issue of self interest.

So what Iz wants to know, what do you folks think of preferential treatment or quotas based on sex, race, religion or any other criteria you care to think of?
