Strange - this day last week Iz came home from finally watching ROTK and was more than a bit cranky and peeved. Funny - a lot of people seem to be having similar reactions. It must have something to do with knowing that it's all over and there is no more of the joy of waiting for the next grand epic instalment of the adventure. And after a 3 hour soujourn in Middle Earth, Mundane muggle land seemed so incredibly boring. Iz also had the slight inconvenience of knowing that there would be no silver sickles left for choccie and coffee indulgences until the following Thursday.

Today's grand plan was to go to the Zoo to check out the new nest of the reticulated python who had gotten rather too big for her box. Unfortunately her neighbour got evicted to make way for the home improvements and is now in a new residence not on display to the general public. Iz wouldn't care if it was a dull colorless and boring dugite - horrid things that look like lumps of hose pipe - but no - it is the beauty queen of the serpentine world who had to move. The boa constrictor.

Turns out we didn't go as we met with Petunia instead. But before meeting at 11.30 Iz just had to get her quick fix of Cyberian gossip and could either pay at a nasty net cafe or go to the library and get it free. But Iz wasn't the only one with such cheap and nasty thoughts so instead went looking at the catalogues since I couldn't get on the internet computer.
In a dazed hypnotic state, found myself clicking on 'find author' and inexplicably typing in "T..O...L...
The Preciousssssss was calling and Iz just had to answer. So our fishing expedition came up with an interesting catch - "The Two Towers" book and "Prisoner of Azkaban" on CD! Oh happy day! Took a while to find TTT and turns out it was in the Large Print section. I guess that's why it was still there. The young things wouldn't be seen dead with a 'grannies' book. Suits Iz just fine. After all those poor eyeses are going to get very very tired with all that reading.
There was also wierd stuff about the War of the Ring and Morgoth and ..well Iz figures that it is not exactly beginner's material.

And shock, horror - Iz is actually enjoying it! So far have got to when Aragorn and friends have just left the riders and are still looking for hobbitses.
Of course Iz cheated and took a quick slink off to the marsheses of the dead. Now that was just so so - Iz felt right at home there. Now we can compare it to the nasty stuff the Cat caught for the Iz ;)

Iz of course, did not start reading straight away but brought the Precioussss to St Brutus for the usual ritual of the wine and cheese picnic with the usual suspects in attendance. (One is furry and the other has fangs)
Then we went to visit the other Preciousssss in hospital. The poor thing looks terrible. Turns out she didn't break her shoulder but had to get bits of bolts and stuff in her hip. Iz was awfully upset.
The ickle twinkle in the eye was not there and she looked sort of doped. I guess that's a side effect of the anaesthetic from the operation.
Not sure if she recognized the Izzie but it was nice to hear the old line "Get me out of this stinking horrid place" But this time without the 'stinking horrid' bit. Poor little Preciousss no longer looks Gollumish at all. Let's hope that she does return to her old slinking twinkling self before too long.
