The Night Bus and other conspiracies
27/05/2004 10:40 pmIz has been so so busy slinking around in Cyberia that once again it is nearly time to hop on the Night Bus at 11pm and listening to the whining whingeing driver who does a damned good impersonation of Argus Filch. It sure is boring driving a bus the same route for hours from 6pm until about 1 in the morning but it does get a bit tiring listening to the constant tirades about wimpish lazy good for nothing students who won't walk but get the bus for just two stops and how no other local university has a campus bus service so why should this one and "If I had my way, I'd lock this place up at midnight so there'd be none of this rubbish of people playing on computers at 3 in the morning"
You kind of get the impression that this guy just LOVES his job. But what really peeved the Iz was how he now has a new pet rant. It's usually the American students who are often as drunk as skunks because they are not allowed to drink until they are 21 at home so they sure make up for it over here. Fair enough - if they puke in his bus - he is the poor sucker who gets to clean it up. Then of course - the news was on which was a golden opportunity to talk about the Jewish conspiracy. It's amazing how many people have developed the art of hissing and spitting out with the most poisonous venom "It'sssss the Jewsssssss who run the world"
Well Iz prefers to explain things with preference to incompetence rather than conspiracies but some folks just want certainty and there is no room for doubt or chance and that's just what a conspiracy offers. So Iz has now tossed him in the basket that she specially reserves for folks who watch Fox News and who believe in numerology, alien abductions and that X files is a documentary series.
But Iz did rather enjoy the tasty tidbit on the radio yesterday about a sort of Catholic conspiracy. Was peeved to discover that the story which was about one Professor J Tolkien, did not have a transcript but rather a link to a rather heavy if still interesting web magazine. For folks who don't mind LOTR or Potter with a Christian twist - it's quite an interesting site.
The Lady of the Rings
There was also a fascinating documentary about the Netherlands. Iz was just amazed and astonished at this sad sickly little bunch. First thought it was the miserable weather but there was another more shocking and scary explanation.
Sick at Heart Must be all that cheese and tasteless tomatoes.
Well - must be off on that bus. I wonder if I should try convert this guy to Serpentology?
