30/04/2005 01:07 pmIzzie has been playing with her new toys and enjoying her new status of riches beyond the dreams of avarice - well no quite but it sure beats our recent state of penury.
Mentioned recently that the Iz was expecting a dividend cheque yesterday and was only peeved that we could not get our paws on it on Monday when it would really have been more appreciated. Well. Was expecting the usual 130 silver sickles so it was a pleasant surprise indeed to be getting an extra 70 or so. But best of all, they are 100% franked dividends which in plain language means that the company has already paid the tax on them so they won't come back to haunt us on 30 June.
It is a pleasant change not to be penny pinching. The Iz has gone a bit wild - taking advantage of a rare opportunity to get stuff cheaply sent overseas and buying that wand but we have done nothing foolish or silly.
Last night got to test drive that wicked little Braun wand. Yesss. It was an excellent idea to insist on nothing less than 600 watts. The little beast whipped up a pesto in no time and made mince meat of a bag of peanuts. But Izzie has come to the conclusion that salted peanuts make utterly appalling peanut butter and so will try again with some dry roasted unsalted stuff.
Went to buy some pine nuts on Friday but the little buggers were charging $$35 per kilo. Bloody outrageous when their sister shop in Downtown Dursleyville charges only $$20 for them. Bugger that. Will use cashew nuts instead which is exactly what we did. Could be really cheap and try peanuts but that would probably be really rather disgusting. Peasto!
Today, did make it to the other store. Was most amused to see that those precious pine nuts were no longer $$20 per kilo but had dropped to $$18. How they can justify this discrepency, will never know. Maybe it's because the other place is full of Italians who like Izzie are incurably addicted but not as cheap.
So the Izzie is going to be having a most green and nutty time indeed over the next few days.
