Slinking in the sunshine
16/06/2006 09:25 pmBeen a most gorgeous week weatherwise. Most crisp and crunchy indeed with lots of glorious sunshine. Was a good little serpent on Thursday and got up reasonably early in order to catch the 9.40 bus connecting to Fremantle.
It was so nice to be able to lounge about in the sunshine at our favorite lunatic asylum. Originally intended to leave around 12 or so in order to have time to visit the Potions Mistress and print out the pages of beans the Izzie has counted so far before then popping into the usual cafe for our fortnightly fix of podcasts followed by Juicy Beetroot's 3-4pm Happy Hour and finally sunset at the beach.
But figured that it would be nice to linger longer at the lunatic asylum and have a proper listen to Reichstag Radio instead of the usual miserable attempts at trying to listen to anything while on the bus.
The Dulcet tones of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Fishnet stockings are certainly best savoured over a very strong coffee (and a toilet in the vicinity in case the Izzie pisses herself laughing or worse) After two days of the stuffy lot in the Senate, was so so nice for the folks at Reichstag Radio to bring us Question Time from the Lower House. They are invariably much louder and raucous than the other lot.
The talk back topic of the day on another show was the new industrial relations legislation so it was a most amusing day indeed.
Today was equally gorgeous. Spent more time in the sunshine after the usual 7am Friday morning meeting. Then decided that the old graveyard would be the perfect spot to continue the adventures of the Half Blood Prince in the Tower of Doom. This is the third time round and still finding lots of little bits that we'd either forgotten or simply not noticed the last two times. Dumblie certainly knows how to die in style - calling the shots to the very end. Dying to know just what his portrait is going to get up to in the last book. Izzie suspects that it won't spend all day snoozing.
Yesterday, got a copy of ""God's Call Girl" by Carla van Raay. What a brilliant title. Would have been most intrigued anyway even without having heard several interviews with her on Radio National a few months ago. Sad, scary and true and probably has much more useful to say about the Catholic Church than that book which shall remain nameless.
Did a bit more pottering in the City Farm garden and nursery. Was hoping to get the only mulberry tree sapling they had left to add to our own little Garden of Eden as well as some broad bean seedlings and other veggies. But the mulberry and beans were gone so we went away empty handed and just slinked around the grounds instead. Will just have to hope that the ones we planted from seeds will sprout.
Was supposed to get those green fingers out in the garden this afternoon but got home somewhat later than originally intended. Spent an hour or two counting our own beans and finishing the sales journal entries for the Potions Mistress. Looks like this month's project of decluttering the library room is getting put on the long finger for the last week or so.
Will have to resort to putting already completed tasks on the Serpent "To do" list so that we get to cross off a bunch of things and feel like we've achieved something for the day. yesss. A sneak and a cheat is the Izzie.
