A most delightful and delicious day
10/05/2007 09:08 pmAnother glorious crisp, crunchy and quite sunny day today. Just like yesterday but at least the Izzie managed not to stuff it up this time
Got up around 7ish for a quick peek outside in the garden before returning to bed for a snooze. But not before resetting the alarm for 8am as they said on the radio that's when the winners would be announced for the festival competition.
Well. Izzie won't be getting a free flight to Sydney for the first weekend in June. Never mind, there's still the other competition where the first and only prize are a bunch of solar panels fully installed. Now that's a prize that the Izzie seriously wants to win
Second time up was just before 9am. Got the bus 40 mins later and eventually slinked into the Garden of Arcane Delights just before Question Time. Looks like all the bestest and juiciest questions had all been yesterday - the day after the budget.
Was supposed to be squiggling some letters to various friendses but once again got nothing done. Spent our time instead reading a most wonderful book that we usually save for Thursdays. But today was not your average Thursday. This time there was only 20 pages left. Sort of sad in a way. Some books are so good that while on the one hand you want to keep reading to find out what happens next, at the same time you sort of don't want to because then it will be finished and the adventure will be all over.
There's not many books that bring a smile to the Izzie dial just thinking about them, let alone reading them. And this was one of those very few. If it had eyes, they would sparkle like stars.
A most strange tale about a dog, a dinosaur, a paper monster, a 14 armed maggot and mazes of monsters among other things. The sort of book that makes you want to write one yourself. But now it's all over and back to boring old reality.
It was especially wonderful finishing in the very same place that we started. It was sort of spooky being able to stay lurking in the gardens until after dark. Normally they close at 5pm but there was a jazz concert on tonight at 7pm. Could have quite happily stayed a lot longer but there was bottles to buy on the way home and the chances of falling into a trance and being a snoozie serpent were quite high indeed.
When it wasn't reading time, was off shopping. There's lots of choccies on sale this week including "Green and Blacks" organic dark chocolate which is normally much too expensive for house elves like Izzie. But for $$3.75 instead of the usual $$5.99, could indulge and finally get to see what all the fuss is about. Very good it is too. Will be getting some for the ma for Mothers' Day as she too has recently gone over to the Dark Side.
Really should also make her some Cockroach Clusters as she likes almonds too. Will need to be tomorrow or Saturday morning.
