Musings and Meanderings
31/12/2010 10:37 amIt's that time of year for getting all slushy and sentimental.
Decided that 2011 is going to be a seriously productive year. Needing to make up for the disaster that was the first half of this one
But if the weather bureau gets its facts right then it will be a nasty start to the serpent grand adventure
Today a sunny and breezy 35 is forecast and 36 for tomorrow but for the following four days they are forecasting a stinking sizzling 40. Here's hoping they are hopelessly wrong because nothing in the garden is going to survive that sort of oven baked heat
Today will be the ritual last sunset of the year picnic with lots of time for musing and reflecting and filling in dates and deadlines in the recycled 2005 diary
After going on a quick blitz in the kitchen was ashamed to find yet again a whole bunch of munchies that had to be tossed due to being way past their use by date
Every year every attempt to sort out this munchies hoarding problem does not last more than two weeks
Suspecting that the clutter problems and layers of serpent blubber all have the same source. Now how to go about explaining to the inner serpent that all those security blankets are not only unnecessary but a ridiculous waste of resources
Since in a battle between imagination and will power, it's always best to put the money on imagination, will need to find sneaky ways to sort this out
It's happened before. Years of trying to eliminate some bad habit or trait prove unsuccessful but then some strange unexpected turn of events with no effort on Izzie's part at all will produce the elusive results
That happened some nine years ago but the magic has long ago worn off.
So deciding to try positive spin and to make a past vice into a virtue
2011 will be the year of living self sufficiently. The trick is to use and enjoy what we have already got before being tempted into any new bright shiny things
High on the list of stuff already in abundance are books - boxes and boxes of them and many unread. Then there's dozens of decks of delightful cards. More than enough to have a different one to play with every two weeks. There's lots of pretty hand made paper, pen, ink and journals and even blank black books waiting to be transformed into something out of the Lovecraft Library
Succeeded in resisting the temptation of buying plants after October except for one baby mango tree which still remains in its pot waiting for its new home. There's plenty of seeds in dark brown bags waiting to be planted. No need for any more on that front
Aside from milk and wine, there's no reason at all for the serpent to darken the door of any grocery store for the next two weeks at least.
So here's to a productive and procrastination free new year for the serpent and the cat and a joyful, happy and peaceful new year for everyone else
