This serpent is certainly slacking on the squiggling front. There are just too many distractions online and in the mundane muggle world. Worst of all is the weather. There’s been a storm brewing since Thursday or so and it’s made the place all steamy, sticky and disgusting. It caused chaos up north but was well and truly out of steam by the time it got this far south. Been totally troppo the whole time. Way too irritable and brain dead to do anything other than attempt to sleep and only now are things cooling down and returning to normal. The day job wasn’t too bad because they have air conditioning but the long awaited “Less is more” festival on Saturday turned out to be disappointing due to my totally distracted and irritable state. There were a lot of interesting talks and events but it was wasted on this frazzled serpent.

The ma and pa say that’s what you get for being fat and frumpy. Of course hot weather is always worse for fatties especially as it has become so hard to find decent clothes these days. Even stuff that looks like cotton turns out to be some sort of nasty synthetic fabric which is not much better than wearing a big black plastic bag. I always wonder how those women wearing burqas manage in such horrid hot and humid weather. Invariably their male partners are wearing tee shirts, shorts and flip flops. Maybe instead of banning the burqa, western governments should make it compulsory for the more militant Muslim men to wear them as as well.
But even as a flobberworm, I have always loathed such weather. It was one incentive to avoid Kuala Lumpur or Singapore as a stopover on those recent overseas adventures. Of course it’s air conditioning all the way in the airports but getting off the plane and walking the plank one can feel the heaviness of the air almost like it would crush you if given half a chance.
I guess a good half of the world’s human population live in places where such weather is normal for most of the year. I am so so glad not to be one of them. Three months of it is more than enough.

But while it does often get hot and horrid and sticky here, we are reasonably lucky in this part of the world because we very rarely get really bad thunderstorms and most cyclones have well and truly run out of steam by the time they get this far south. No earthquakes or snowstorms either but we do get the odd bushfire.

At least after the equinox, the chances of nice mild crisp and crunchy sunny days will be greatly increased and hopefully I'll be feeling a lot more sparkly and twinkly.
