Lost and Found
13/07/2018 11:33 pmIt has been such a strange week. Wonderful to see that the film flam man got tossed off the front pages in favour of a story of people from all around the world working together selflessly for a common cause greater than themselves and with no thought for reward other than the 13 lives saved and a job well done.
No grandstanding, showboating or big noting. Just a bunch of divers and doctors getting on with the job
The Thai government did whatever it took to get those kids out including swallowing their pride and asking for help from wherever they could find it. Because saving the kids trumped saving face. They also treated everyone involved with respect and did not let it turn into a circus. No speculation or interviews with the press people from all over the world until the whole thing was over.
And strangely as a sad and tragic trump stalker, this diminished coverage of the orange idiot did not bother me in the slightest. (I guess I knew there would be a feast for this Freaky Friday)
But I did keep getting horrid visions of Gollum J Trump lurking in those caves looking for things even juicier and tastier than fishes.
To see those original pictures of those boys huddled in the cave looking thin and tired but calm and quiet in the face of a very scary fate and then compare them to the toddler in chief who insults and belittles even those who try to help him and has melt downs at even the tiniest perceived threat to his fragile ego, just magnifies the difference between them.
But now we have returned to our regular programming on steroids.
But best of all, David Rowe is back from a well earned break and is offering by far the best coverage of all the Donnie dramas.
There SO needs to be a Nobel Prize for political cartoonists.
