Grinchmas is Coming
25/11/2022 10:22 pmJust a quick squiggle for the day that's in it.
Exactly one month from now it will be Christmas Day. I can hardly wait.
The Grinch got in early to trash it for his family but that is a long story and best saved for another day.
I always intend to do a proper squiggle as well as reply to quite a few comments by this stage. But that will have to wait for another day.
There is just SO much drama as is always the case when Grinch Junior (my younger brother) turns up on the scene.
It definitely turned out to be the real story this November, not the one I had planned about the Floranomicon - a book of seriously scary flora from Australia. Why should the funnel web spider, irikanji jellyfish and sharks get all the fun?
I actually had an incident with my current Book of Weeds. This is a gardening notebook that I use to write down dates that I planted assorted seeds and tubestock, the weather on that day as well as the phase of the moon. All the plants that shrivel up and die get honorable mentions in the Book of Dead Weeds.
Instead of bringing the book inside a week ago, I left it lying on the garden table. Unexpected heavy rains left the whole thing a sopping soggy mess with most of the pages all stuck together and full of blank pages with pale traces of ink.
I was devastated at the loss of all this useful and irreplaceable information. Several years at least. but on closer look after a couple days of drying, the first entry was actually on Wednesday 21st September 2022 so not much got lost after all. I had somehow forgotten that I had switched over from the big fat old book to a bright not so shiny new one made of recycled paper.
In its current state, the Garden note book looks remarkably like a muggle version of Tom Riddle's diary.
Blurred words and curled up pages all yellowing at the edges. Definitely dodgy looking
Now at almost the last minute, another Horcrux lurking around the house will soon take centre stage and make a guest appearance at an early Christmas dinner.
Maybe I will manage to recount the tale at tomorrow evening's Nanowrimo Write In.
