Crazy Covidmas

Strange days in Dursleyville..
Since Tuesday 20th I have tested positive for COVID and the tests I did on Wednesday and Thursday are still positive in spite of now having little more than a sniffle to show for it.
When I woke up on the morning of Monday 19th December delirious, hot and clammy with a splitting headache, my first thought turned to hot flushes. Since that was impossible in my case I then turned to the slice of SPINACH quiche I had in a cafe for lunch on Sunday.
It never even occured to me that it could be COVID until a coworker suggested doing a RAT test. Since I had a stash of 20 of RAT freebies just lying around the house, I figured why not. Not least because I had been invited to lunch with old friends on Thursday so better safe than sorry.
I did manage to go for my long awaited Graveyard Picnic on Christmas Day. I masked up on the empty bus and there was no danger of Petunia or anyone else at the cemetery catching it from me.
I have been pretty much lying low and lurking around the Lair since then.
The thing that I cannot get out of my head, this time last year we had the string of 40 celsius days that started with Christmas Day itself and continued until Friday 31st.
But still I insisted on observing some non negotiable rituals such as the visit to the gorgeous old cafe and grounds of Karrakatta cemetery. I usually reserve the Twilight Zone between Christmas and New Year's Day for reviewing the old year, tying up loose ends and starting to fill appointments and events in the new diary and there is something about a graveyard cafe that is just so perfect for such end of year rituals.
If I had a common or garden cold, I would have been at that cafe today until closing time at 3pm. No little sniffle was going to stop me. But since I may still be contagious, that was not an option this week
But a week of 27 degree max days with Covid was more pleasant than last year's string of 40 degree days this time last year without it.
I just hope that I get a negative test on Monday evening. I already missed yesterday at work due to those results. Next working day after that is Tuesday 2nd.
It's like the lockdown of March to May 2020 but just a baby one for me.
