The Anaconda has departed
11/06/2003 09:12 pmSdelala! The nasty sneaky evil Anaconda accounting group project is finally finished. Signed sealed and delivered. Such a relief. Not only did this avaricious creature swallow bucket loads of investor's cash but lots of Izzie's precious internet time too. So I have just the excuse I need to spend some time snooping in Cyberia this evening instead of studying for a Corporations Law Exam next Tuesday.
Thank God for multicolored mind maps. I do one page of strange squiggles for each topic.. with the main idea in the centre and branching out with as many pictures and symbols as possible. It is astonishing how much easier it is to remember stuff like this instead of pages and pages of text with glow in the dark green highlighting pens covering half of it. I must say it certainly attracts some strange looks from the other folks with piles of paper in their paws. But who cares? It works.
The real trick is to reproduce the original without peeking at it. Looking at stuff and saying.."No worries.I know all that" is one thing. Having to recall it from memory is quite another.
But the real test will be at midnight on Saturday 21 June. Will Izzie be able to put away the Precious and get back to rather more boring books to finish preparing for a test on Monday 23rd? Damn the Goblins! Last year the exams had all finished by Friday 21 June. It didn't matter then of course.
The other big news of the day....Iz got a big fat parcel in the post from a friend that she thought was consigned to the pages of history. It is hard to maintain a friendship half way around the planet with some one who does not like writing and does not like these modern day instant owls (and like Izzie does not have her own computer either)Must try some scheme to lure her into MSN. I did not have a clue about such things either until about one year ago when the disgusting creature lurking in the dungeons of H** tried to explain it to such a Luddite as myself. (She knows who she is... such a cute little hobbit)
A gorgeous cuddly creature in wrapping paper adorned with pictures of Mozart kugeln ( I cannot use the English word.. it could be err... misinterpreted) truffles, pralines and bars of Lindt 70% dark chocolate) He has a black gown and hat adorned with stars and moons and suns. He even has a pair of glasses. And his name? Hippo Potter! Just perfect for lots of Izzie squishes. The nice postman had left him in a cupboard in the broom port so Iz didn't have to slink down to the local post office and prove she was so and so when last week she was collecting another parcel and claiming to be such and such ;) "Allow me to introduce myselves!"
Even Petunia, Dursleyish being that she is made Iz a card with a picture of a big bottle and a rat with a glass of red in its paw. Not the world's best drawn rat but it was just so cute. Much more thoughtful and appreciated than the flash graphics cards that you can get down at that post office. They still have a card that Iz made 20 years ago for their wedding anniversary. Strange how people used to make things by hand because they could not afford to buy them ready made. Now we buy stuff ready made because we cannot afford the TIME to make them ourselves. But in either case..twenty years later guess which one gets kept and remembered?
