SSSSSSo much stuff....so little time. The Cat tried to tempt Iz with the fascinating post concerning visits to Cyberia as a substitute for alcohol, caffeine or other mind altering substances. Iz bravely resisted.
And then Aci's delicious wistfulness got Iz all thinking about memories and the pursuit of happiness and other such issues. The interesting observation for instance that Iz always observes with special rituals the last sunset of the old year rather than the first sunrise of the new year.
Yet again Iz resisted the urge to reply.

Friday for the first time in five months, finally got a fix of the full moon. All the times in between, if I was not working or attending Goblin classes, it rained. Like last month for instance.
Yesterday was a simply gorgeous sunset and moonrise. The day had been yukkie and muggy. Horrid hot and sticky.
Thursday was simply exquisite. Iz went on the Wizards express. It never ceases to amaze me that the folks who run the steam train, from the witches pouring the pumpkin juice, to the steam engine drivers and ticket collectors are ALL volunteers. Got talking to a particularly fascinating red headed one of them called Ron!Maybe will get around to talking more about him some other time.

Yet again Iz was the only Slytherin on board. Honestly - boring Gryffindors with glasses and scars should be BANNED from the train.
Iz could always dare to be different and emulate her newest idol but just cannot bring herself to wear a pink fluffy cardigan and hair bows.
The original plan on Thursday was to return to Platform 9 3/4 at about twenty to five in the afternoon, watch the drivers move the engine from one end to the other and then get the sunset coast bus at ten past five to Izzie's favorite beach for a picnic and watching the sunset at 6.20 or so before catching another bus from the beach at 6.30 straight through to the Min of Fin to catch up on the goblins to do some last minute tweeking at the Ministry of Misery.

Everything was going according to plan until about ten minutes before arrival. There is only one track and the Wizard's express is tolerated on the condition that it is the lowest train in the pecking order. Which meant that we got to sit on the sidings and watch as containers and containers of very nasty sodium cyanide rolled on by. Now what would George Bush have to say about that? Massive quantities of Weapons of mass destruction there for the taking in broad daylight;)

The stuff must have befuddled and bewitched Izzie's brain as she was bitchy for the rest of the day and this one too.

In the end we arrived at twenty past five and since it is the last steam train for the year - just had to wait to say the proper goodbyes. By then it was too late to get to the beach on the bus in time for the sunset.
But at least I did not miss the absolutely intriguing program on the radio about Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Bono...it was about the spiritual influences on their music and was simply fascinating. Iz got ever so nostalgic about those days in Dublin back in the late 80's where I saw U2 in concert twice. Bono does get a bit annoying at times with the pontificating but boy they write good stuff and have such amazing passion. They sure are the real thing - not these cheap and nasty Britney Spears and Kylie straight out of a factory muzak.
I guess that is why I liked the Rolling Stones more than the Beatles. While the Beatles were definitely more innovative and wrote some really good stuff, the Stones left them dead for sheer passion, energy and charisma and..well that certain animal magnetism thing. U2 seem to have found the right balance between the two styles.
When Iz gets exiled to that desert island, the Joshua tree cd will definitely be coming too. Now the other four albums that I get to choose.....?
