izmeinaIz is pretty peeeeeeved. Totally pissed off in fact.
The Min of Fin lets the goblins store stuff on H-drive. Of course Iz believes in taking precautions. As the Izzie floppy disc has got classified ministry information on it - there was insufficient space to store the latest assignment so came up with the idea of using LJ private entries instead.
Well on Monday -after a couple of hours (saving after just about each paragraph) adding to the Microsoft vs Linux saga and still not having obtained a new supply of floppies - Iz decides to email the file to herself by going to File -send..blah blah. Oh forgot to say - it is a Microsoft Word document. But then again, you have probably already guessed.
Well well. Not only did the evil wizard not send the file but munched, chewed out and spat out the original and left nothing but boxes boxes, stars,stripes and all sorts of incomprehensible squiggles. Everything GONE!
And the explanations from the Goblens at the IT assistance counter? Well....Microsoft is like that sometimes! It's just too bad. As this is a network you should not really use the send and set up wizard command from within windoze but rather send files as attatchments. Oh thanks thinks Iz
The little bastards have all sorts of warnings and flashing lights about Netscape not being a recommended browser but nothing whatsoever to warn poor unsuspecting victims about the evil wizard lurking in the word files.
What particularly peeved me was that it was precisely that I wanted to play safe that this happened.
Well...will stick to LJ instead thinks Iz. Lucky I had stuff there as I lost only about 60 mins work instead of the whole damned thing.
But I got so paranoid now that as well as saving every other paragraph..after about 10 mins I will go to 'save as' and change the number of the file so that at least there will be an old one when the inevitable happens.
And today...did not go near any evil word wizards...just innocently typing the file that now bears the title Microfuck666.doc when I notice that the black squares of death had yet again reappeared. This time in the very paragraph when Iz was talking about Windoze and Internet Exploiters' tendency to get and transmit all sorts of nasty Viral Diseases.
Looks like Iz might end up having to write the whole thing in LJ. At least we know it will be there next time.
