Ickle Iz was off on the broomstick today to St Brutus. As usual the little green book came too and today managed to fill the last six pages. It has almost become a ritual to start and finish them there ever since the little incident with the green book back in January 2002. Well the ink was green but the book back then happened to be pink. Of course they have been green ever since. (Skipped straight past the yellow and black Hufflepuff phase)
Handwriting is handy since you can do it anywhere but it does have some disadvantages. After about six sentences, two pages if I am being really good and making an effort, it begins to degenerate into an indecipherable scrawl. Writing neatly and off the top of one's head at the same time is not exactly a compatible combination.
It was a glorious and gorgeous day today. Iz still managed to be cranky. That's what happens when one is a bit tired and not eating the proper munchies. Izzie's idea of a balanced diet is lots of cheese, chocolate and peanut butter. (As Petunia says - you're the only vegetarian I know who doesn't eat vegetables!)
And naughty Iz has not been taking her pills either. Bad Izzie.
Well, after about twenty minutes in the Garden of Arcane Delights, the magical transformation had taken effect - assisted by coffee and lindt 85% cocoa chocolate.
But only been thinking, now that the goblins will be leaving the Izzie in peace until late February (and after Professor Binns's exam on Tuesday)it really is time to do a lot more squiggling in Secret Diary Land.
And unlike the little green book that Iz writes in German to keep it safe from the prying eyes of Petunia and other Lookenpeepers, in LJ land one can simply click the options to keep stuff away from prying eyes. Most handy indeed. A great place to store essays, safe from the fickle whims of the evil empire.

Today the place that Izzie picked to watch the sunset, it brought back so many memories. Being there reminded me of why I don't choose it very often.
The first memory was of the day I started reading Chamber of Secrets and within two hours became incredibly sick. How Iz ever managed the bus and train home while retaining possession of all her bodily fluids still remains a mystery. Apparently I looked as white as a ghost. People kept asking if I was OK which I certainly wasn't. At first I thought this was a bug I got from Vernon who'd been sick two days previously with similar symptoms but later another explanation presented itself and it somehow seems to make more sense.(The inner creatures get very very cranky when they are constantly ignored) But that was Thursday 29 November 2001 so will save the rest of the saga for 29 November this year.

A couple weeks later was at the very same spot on Friday 7 December 2001 with a copy of book 4. Decided to start reading it at sunset at that particular place. Originally was going to save it for the solstice on 21 December but turned out that was the day of the radio book club and they just happen to have chosen that particular book so it was just the excuse Iz needed to start reading straight away.
Little did ickle Iz know what evil surprises were in store only four days down the road.
Being the same dates and days and stuff - yes I know it is now November not December but the weather sure is so similar - lots of those memories are all bubbling up by themselves. Iz figures that two years on, maybe it's time to post them for posterity as 2001 was not a year I wrote much in the Izzie diary except for the very last few days. Had worked out by then that there was something strange going on with those Potter books but was not quite sure what it was only that it was quite horrid and nasty. It was almost like some one was going through the Izzie broom cupboards with a clean sweep 2001 and stirring up the darkest of dust and scattering all the skeletons that had been lurking in silence for so long.
It seemed like coincidence at the time but not so sure about that now that shortly after all these incidents Iz picks up a copy of Thomas Moore's "Care of the Soul" from the library shelves and finds a most peculiar quote
"When we allow a story its soul, we can discover our own depths through it"

Well, the horrid nastiness had a happy ending. And no one was more surprised and delighted than meeeee.
