Moste Potente Potions
27/11/2003 01:29 amIzzie has found some strange bottlies lurking on the shelves in the local liquor store. Stuff that Iz thought was "verboten" under the counter specials to be discretely dispensed to the chosen few.
Things are changing. Not only is it no longer a crime here to keep a python as a pet but now the slinkiest of drinks have appeared from their hiding place in the broom cupboard.
One of these interesting creatures was from the Czech Republik - 60% proof - whatever exactly that means and a pale wishy washy wimpy green
with the intriguing label "Green Fairy" Right next to it was an interesting offering from Pernod - apparently the original and Iz suspects still the best. This little number was 68% and but for the addition of wormwood, seems remarkably similar to the usual Pernod that Izzie is rather fond of.
There was one rather significant difference however. These few sprigs of silvery green leaves has the magical effect of DOUBLING the price tag!
Iz thinks that it may be rather interesting to toss a few of her own silvery green leaves that grow round this place like weeds, into a bottle of plain pernod and watch the magical transformation.
So if strange things start happening in the Lair of the Rainbow Serpent - like stranger than usual......
Oh Iz has been led to believe that Latona is rather an expert in this area. Must send her an owl enquiring about proper procedures. Never tasted the real thing myself but it seems to be a drink made with Izzie in mind
So all would be Potions Masters who are not quite up to the standard required to produce "The Draught of Sleeping Death" here it is - the Green google recipe for Absinthe
Greenest Greetings
Ingredients:
1 pint Vodka
2 tsp Wormwood, crumbled
2 tsp crumbled Anise seeds
1/2 tsp Fennel seeds
4 Cardamom pods
1/2 tsp Coriander, ground
2 tsp Angelica root, chopped
Mixing instructions:
Steep wormwood in vodka for 48 hours. Remove, add the rest and steep for one week. Age.
Note that this drink may be bad for your health. It is also illegal to make Absinthe in several countries.
