Iz has been lurking less than usual in Cyberia. The Goblins at the Min of Fin are upgrading all the computers and decided not to wait until the annual shutdown at the end of December. So cheap creatures like Iz who don't like paying for their portkey access to Cyberia now only have access until 10pm Monday to Fridays only. (Usually we have 24/7 access except for the annual shut down)

Iz has also decided to spend some time in Mundane muggle Land. Got really really spoilt this month. Haven't had a decent moonrise picnic since August maybe as since then it has either been cloudy or raining or Iz has been working. But this month I had two picnics! So spent the time moon watching instead of lurking in front of a screen.

For some inexplicable reason, in spite of always working Mondays 3-9pm Iz got landed with a 7- 1 shift instead. Most impressed I was too when finding in the paper that the moon would be coming up just 20 mins before sunset. Officially Full moon was on Tuesday but Iz never needs an excuse for a party.
So off it was to St Brutus for some munchies and a snoop around the art galleries, then I popped by one of those cheap and nasty junk shops selling all sorts of awful things - most of which are made in China. But they do have nice Christmas decorations. So Iz slinked out with a green and silver tinsel garland and some baubles looking somewhat like the onion domes of St Basil's (That gorgeous cathedral near the Kremlin) Green and silver again of course.
Next stop was for a coffee before starting the grand trek up a rather steep hill to the war memorial which has the best views in town and is the ideal moon watching spot.
While ordering the Izzie coffee -the girl at the counter is looking at my hat and asks if the strange green badge is my family crest! Iz says that it isn't but it should be. (It is actually a Slytherin sticker. And there are some unmugglish folks out there who actually recognize and respect the Izzie allegiance - unfortunately in Dursleyville they are few and far between)

Turns out to be a gorgeous evening but it got ever so windy and cold up there on the hill. Iz was sitting on the steps and a sudden gust of wind blew our glass of wine over and spilt it all over the steps and the Slytherin hat. So the green ribbon now has pale pink blotches.(Lucky it was not really a glass but a plastic green beaker. Sacrilige! but glass is just too breakable and heavy)
Even though the moon was big and fat - amazing how hard it is to see when the sun is still out, I really did think that I would finally catch it coming over the horizon but in spite of looking and staring it was well and truly up and about when I finally seen it ten minutes after the expected time.

Well. The following day there would be a better chance as the moon would be rising 30 mins after sunset so it shouldn't be too hard to spot the little creature. Iz figures that moon spotting is such a rare occasion that it is justified catching the late bus. After all, I can visit Cyberia any day.
Iz did consider going to less favorable spots in order to catch an earlier bus but other considerations and tradition prevailed.

St Brutus has a craft shop, museum and lots of galleries but Iz really only frequents the cafe and gardens (and pays an occasional visit to peep at the padded cells in the museum - it used to be a lunatic asylum after all)
But in the daily paper was a story about an exhibition that was there and finishing this very week. Silly Iz - right in front of her nose and she does not see it. The art exhibition is based on the idea of 'retablo' which is a Mexican folk art where people paint on tin or other house hold objects - usually some sort of thank you prayer in visual form. There was the good, the bad, the ugly and the absolutely brilliant. The original version of an Izzie favorite which she has sent as postcards to some of the creatures was there. It is called "The Chili Virgin" and is a distinctly Latin American looking version of the Virgin Mary. There was even an original artwork from one of Izzie's absolute favorite artists of all time - Michael Leunig. But the one that Izzie wanted to see had the tantalizing title "The Bitch Goddess" by a guy called Paul Trinidad.
This was exhibit number 123 and had a most intriguing description
"The Bitch Goddess of the cars and the road has no mercy, with breakdowns, traffic and the ever bourgeoning relationship with money and keeping your car running. Hail the Bitch Goddess. Divine saint of road rage!"

There were diagrams of the locations - most of the art works were together on one wall of a very large room. But nowhere was exhibit 123 to be seen. Damn thinks Iz. I must be blind. This is the one that I gotta see.
It was only when ickle Iz left the room and five minutes before closing time that she noticed the Saab in the courtyard. Well - of course I had been sitting not too far from it most of the afternoon but had not paid too much attention. There was some strange graffiti and painting on it but I just figured it was a promotional vehicle for the exhibition since it had appeared in the festival parade a few weeks previously and was there on Friday in the top car park.
Well. Talk about cool. Iz doesn't care much for seeing pictures of naked babes draped over bonnets but this one was different. And that was why I chose to come back on Tuesday to get a proper look. And since the Goblin guards will be here to lock up any moment now , Iz will just have to keep you all waiting and wondering. Now if only I could find some piccie in google!
