Ickle Iz has said goodbye to the second last sunset of 2003 and will soon be pottering off home to pack for tomorrow's grand picnic by the beach

Unlike last year, this time there is the minor inconvenience of work which Iz finishes at 1pm. Gotta get back to the lair, scrub those scales and snaky curls and be ready and waiting at the bus stop for 2pm. So gotta be all organized the day before.
This year is sort of special because it was way back in 1997 that Iz first started this ritual of spending the last sunset of the year at the beach. Like this year, it was also a Wednesday and was such a wonderful experience that I have been going back ever since. Usually if there's money in the kitty and we are not snowed under with goblin studies, exams, revision and all that horrid stuff - like to go there at least three times a month. Usually on Friday evenings.

The local radio station likes to play their so called top 600 this time of year. They usually start the day after Christmas and finish at 6pm New Years' Eve.
Today they were playing the absolutely gorgeous "Angel" by Sara McGlouchlin. Oh such a fickle thing is fortune. Two years ago that song was in the top ten where it rightfully belongs and now is barely inside the top 100. There is just something so terrribly spooky about it.
Usually "Stairway to Heaven" always manages to pick off the Number one spot which Iz doesn't mind as she utterly adores that song - especially when played backwards ;) But the idea of choosing a number one out of the zillions of gorgeous songs - Iz thinks it has to be arbitrary after all.
These days all that they ever seem to play on mainstream radio is nasty rap crap. Even worse, they are now using this noxious noise in just about every other advertisement. This is the true sign that at last Izzie has gotten OLD when she starts whinging about 'young things' muzak.

The song that got Iz really nostalgic which was a neighboring channel while searching for the 600 countdown was the pathetic scratched cd version of the old Jefferson Aeroplane's "Someone to love" Iz could not help but think how damn good the original was and how Grace Slick with the blood curdling voice that would wake the dead with scary stuff such as the wonderful "White Rabbit" has sold her soul for even less than 30 silver sickles and now howls abominations such as "Sara" and the utterly insipid "We built this City"
Iz will not tolerate more than a second of such aural insults and bemoans her insufficient abiliites with the Cruciatus Curse.

An even worse offender is the slimy smarmy scumbag Chris de Burgh who is way at the top of the Izzie hate list.
How a man who could write such wonderful haunting songs like "Spanish Train". "The Crusader" and "Satin Green Shutters" could prostitute himself by penning such putrid slush as "Lady in Red" will always remain a mystery to me.
Now Iz is just twitching that wand in anticipation waiting for Bono to do the theme song from "The Sound of Music" Iz hopes never to see the day that he is added to the List.

Well at least Lisa Gerrard and Elizabeth Fraser are not for sale. Or the right price has not been offered yet:(
