Izzie has just slinked into the Dungeons of the Min after a long and interesting day. Here is not as convenient as the nasty net cafe but infinitely cheaper and it's possible to post pics on the Min server rather than risk the links to other sites disappearing and rude messages taking their place.

So Iz finally gets to invite her friendses to visit the place she has been lurking most of the day - the utterly enchanting "St Brutus"

one very creepy rickety bocketty wood and stone building and very definitely haunted

This is a rather spooky grainy picture. Unfortunately there are not many pictures of the place out there in google land and none at all of the gardens where I usually lurk.

But before we got there, first port of call was the Bank. We had evil goblinses to deal with. I sure wished that I had taken those hundred silver sickles to work last Friday - would have saved a lot of hassle.

Iz spend some time wondering how there could be the princely sum of  minus 40 in the bank on Tuesday when taking out that 20 on Sunday would have left her only 10 short. The insurance was not due until Wednesday and it was 28 something or so and not 29.50.

Well - Now I finally got those silver sickles from the ma and pa - better go to the bank and get clear that forty and toss in another 20 or so to cover todays union fee debit. Well Iz was not exactly amused to discover that this -40 had suddenly transformed itself into a -98! No way could I possibly cover that and have some left for the union so Iz went in to ask. Was expecting to be hit with some sort of overdraw fee but certainly not a whopping 29.50 per failed transaction. Iz earns the princely sum of 13 per hour before tax. The problem with being poor is that it is so damned expensive.  Putting two and two together, was pretty obvious that Iz was going backwards at a rapid rate. Even if I could spare the whole hundred to clear the debt - would still cop another 29.50 when the union direct debit would be coming out today and what makes it so damned awful is that the union fee is not even half of the bank fee!

I said to the Goblin at the counter that I'd come in with the intention of clearing the over draft in time for today (and obviously could not do it earlier because yesterday was a holiday) but that the bank fees had put me so far into the red that it would be pointless.

She asks how much ickle Iz can pay and I say 80. And you know what she did? She rang up the dept and got them to reverse the two fees! Percy would have been utterly disgusted. Iz was ever so relieved and delighted. The thought of goblins grabbing nearly 90 of Izzie 100 silver sickles was just so sickening - especially as this only happened because Iz was afraid the Troll at work might get them. If I had had that money last Friday would not have had to take anything out of the bank at all for the week and would never have gotten into such a mess. Silly Iz. Just goes to show the eternal need for CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

It sort of reminded me of back in June when Iz had a monumental struggle trying to get her paws on a special delivery owl;) Instead of moping and assuming automatically that rules are rules and there is simply NO point in trying to plead special circumstances and such - ie haven given up before even starting - I was determined that I would be leaving that post office with that owl under my arm and did not leave till I got it. No bitching or whining or whatever - just a quiet determination and persistence  (And a subtle judicious use of the Imperius Charm) got me what I wanted. It could have been so so different.

So next stop was the Zoo. Iz had not seen the creatures for at least four weeks and was getting severe withdrawal symptoms. And it was well worth the visit. Iz got not only a smile and smirk from the reticulated python but a very large yaaaaaaawn. That does not happen often at all. It sure was turning into a lucky lucky day.

The one black spot was the new Izzie bag that we bought for our 'birthday' - or rather bought last week and used for the very first time today. Gorgeous green and black thing with lots of nooks and crannies and places to put stuff - especially the net bits on the sides which are the perfect spots for the silver 'water' bottle ;) and the Preciousssss - in this case refering to Wormtail who can sit in there and sniff the scenery instead of being stuffed in a black hole. But - there was one quirk - unlike most back packs - this is one of those over the shoulder thingies. First time taking it off - caught the corner of my eye with the bag. It damned hurt for a while. It is very difficult getting on and off and the shoulder thingie is just horrid. Is almost like having a boa constrictor hitching a ride. Certainly squashed the Izzie boobies and was squishing my belly too. No - this just won't do. But the worstest was accidently catching a glimpse of Izzie in the mirror and seeing a big blob of red where the white of my left eye should be! No wonder folks were looking at me funnily! Looks like I did well and truly poke the Izzie eye with the nasty thing.

Well..back to the boring old back pack again that I was using until yesterday.

What's the "shoulder thingie" ? I'm using backpacks all the time, they are *supposed* to be worn on the shoulders, aren't they ?

So now you're red-eyed too, like one of my alters ;)
