izmeina: smiling serpent (zmeya)

Ickle Iz has been lurking at the Min for the last hour or so. Came with the best of intentions. Was supposed to check out next semester's subjects and go to the library to get a sneak peak and even brought the handy pocket sized guide to Dreamweaver that I got from the local library and have had for the last 6 weeks. Is due back on Tuesday after numerous renewals and Iz still ain't done anything with it. Like reading does NOT count - you got to be looking at it in front of the actual screen.
Last time Iz peeked in Dreamweaver was just after the nasty goblin examses - with the best of intentions - to try learn some web stuff over the holidays and make the last of my 12 months of almost unlimited fast and sort of free (included in the Goblin fees) internet and interesting programs access. Dreamweaver is supposed to be not only good but also expensive.
Apart from taking a long time to download on the network - what frightened off Iz was the whole sitemap and folder business. That is exactly what scared me off MS Fuckpage. You run a stupid webpage wizard template and end up with six folders and 666 files all over the place.
At least Mozilla/Netscape Composer didn't go into that sort of thing. Even Frames is DIY with that mob but Izzie liked it that way. But it does mean you have got to be organized. At this stage the Izzie piccie collection is bursting out of its folders and trying to add a bit of order - different image folders and stuff means farting around with a whole bunch of links.

Instead Iz went visiting the Oracle and found the cutest most adorable picture of her
favorite feline.

One wonderful thing here - if we find nice preciousss piccies - can toss them online in the Izzie web folder and link to them straight away with no need for nasty FTP or yahoo briefcase or whatever normal folks do for picture hosting. Problem is of course - next year, when I leave the service of the Goblins, they will all disapparate.

All the usual habits are all topsy turvy lately. Was intending to spend last night after work making a big batch of Cockroach Clusters for one of the folks at work who is having a fairly serious operation this coming Sunday. She is best described as a dear little Hobbit from Middle Earth. (Most of the folks from Middle Earth (also known as New Zealand) that Iz is acquainted with are really nice - with the exception of the Troll)
Then I was to spend the rest of the evening lurking in the nasty net cafe, lurking and chatting with interesting creatures. But they asked at work if Iz could work 7-1 this morning instead of 3-9 as originally rostered. Iz was happy of course - another chance to visit the zoo and actually get something done with the day but it did mean going to bed a bit earlier than two in the morning!
Have gotten into the very bad habit of going to bed late and getting up 11-12ish on days when I am working in the afternoon. Silly thing to do. A waste of preciousss daylight - especially if it is NOT 40.5 celsius outside like it was on Sunday. That was a nasty little sizzler. Was just as well I came here after work on Saturday evening for a squiggle instead of doing all that housework and watering the plants since Sunday was way too hot to go anywhere that I didn't have to. Lazy Iz left the broomstick at home and got the bus to work.

Tomorrow and the next few days they are forecasting temperatures of 37-39 celsius. Nasty stinking hot. Iz has nevertheless still decided to stick to tomorrows plan of going to Pinjarra on the normal airconditioned train for the whole day (and getting the student concession fare) instead of the Wizard express which is only there for just over one hour. Sneaky Iz still gets to see the Wizard's express come and go and see the trolls under the bridge, the dungeons, the Flying car and all the wonderful things they have set up in the local museum for the folks on the train tour but also has time to have a proper snoop and picnic in the town itself.
Been on the Wizard's Express about six times now and it was always a source of annoyance that we have so little time in the town and the dungeons and stuff. So Iz has found a sneaky solution.

So it will be yet another early night this evening. Friday's sizzling forecast is just the excuse that Iz needs to finally get to see "Return of the King" and see what all the fuss is about. As long as there is lots of Gollum, Iz will be happy. Don't really care at all for dwarves, elves or Hobbits - especially the sad and serious Elijah Wood variety.
