An Izzie pity party
02/02/2004 12:19 amIz has been lurking the last few days at the Min and having herself some pity parties.
Like today was a gorgeous sunny day and Iz was working in the morning instead of the usual Sunday afternoon shift. This would normally be just the excuse we needed to slink off on the broomstick to the beach or St Brutus or even visit the old National Trust graveyard that is only open 2-4 on Sundays. Oodles of other possibilities spring to mind. But Iz indulged in none of them.
Instead I came home from work, scrubbed the scales and had a quick snooze before heading off for a quick sneak peek at the Min to see what's new in Cyberia. Since bus tickets are valid for two hours - may as well make the most of it.
The open evenings at the Zoo finished last night - or else that would have been the obvious choice. Instead Iz got off at the Zoo which was closed and pottered up to the river to have a coffee and generally slink and lurk and watch the sunset before catching the bus back to Petunia's place to spend the evening which is where I am right now.
And all for the single solitary reason that Iz has hardly a single silver sickle left in her pocketses. Decided this year that one of the resolutions is NOT to be tempted and redraw house money like so often last year ( getting the Izzie paws on the LOTR audio thingie, the trip to Middle Earth and numerous other temptations) Iz is going to be good, But Iz has come to the conclusion that spending $$550 of $$800 fortnightly house elf pay on repayments for the lair is a bit excessive and leaves no room for a LIFE. Last year was too decadent and this year too skimpy. Will cut back to 500 and see how that goes.
Paying off the Izzie Lair years before the term of the 25 year mortgage is well and good but Iz thinks that the price is getting too high. We hates it.
Iz is also getting exceedingly nostalgic for Middle Earth. If we had been going this year, would have been at One Tree Hill for the full moon! That is definitely a must do before departing this mortal coil.
Also scary to think it is a whole year since the last space shuttle disaster where those 7 astronauts got killed. Strange - seems almost like yesterday.
This February full moon will be at the usual place - but the Saturday got the Izzie shift changed to morning so we could go to a free concert by the river with the city and sky in the background followed by yet more fireworks! and bestest of all - will get to see the moon rising too. Will be very nice with a picnic and the special bottlie reserved for the Izzie 'Dark Mark Day' party! Last year just to make sure - even brought my own bottle of the same evil inky red brew (Wynns 98 Cabernet Sauvignon) to Middle Earth) and shared it with Petunia.
So will be spending the rest of the week reading 'The Two Towers' followed by "Goblet of Fire' and then being utterly silly and pigging out for payday on Thursday.
