"I'm sick and tired of miniscule profits!" So says ickle Izzie. But with the bird flu these days - Mrs Tweedie's profits certainly would have plummeted.
Izzie utterly adored the movie "Chicken Run" and Mrs Tweedie would make a perfect Petunia.
This line has been looping in my head for the last five days. For until 7.30 this evening - since Friday evening - the Izzie bank balance was the princely sum of 95 brass knuts - ie 95 cents in muggle money.
It was just so so horrible having a whole sunny Sunday afternoon to potter around and having only the price of one cup of coffee and two trips on the Floo network.

But will see how we go this fortnight and if we run out of money again will just reduce the house repayments by $$50. But I am being good and sticking to the new years resolutions.

This afternoon was out in the garden watering and trying to do stuff that did not require spending money. We can get piles and piles of newspapers but there is no getting away from the fact that the Izzie garden is in desperate need of straw and humungous quantities of humus, manure and mulches of all sorts.
So will have to order some of that and get it all done in the next few weeks before returning to the service of the goblinses.
Of course, the Izzie house elf job does only pay peanuts but most of the fault is mine for being so damned ambitious with paying off the lair. We do get extra pay for working weekends so Iz is very lucky in being able to get by working only 30 hours per week. That leaves lots of time for lurking in Cyberia when there are no goblins assignments and tutorials. Such hours is the stuff that Sara can only dream about. Iz has in the distant past worked 70 hour weeks in two jobs and got nearly twice as much money but did not have a life and hated every minute of it. Iz definitely prefers living more simply and trading more money for time. The older one gets, the more valuable time becomes.

It was Izzie's decadence last year that let to this year's outbreak of scroogieness. Is hard to believe that this day last year ickle Iz was winging her way to Middle Earth. Managed to spend just under $$3,000 in only two weeks holidays. Been getting very nostalgic - especially for the gorgeous One Tree Hill in Auckland. If we had gone this year - would have been there for the full moon. The 'Te papa' One Ring exhibition was also cool as was seeing Gollum on top of the Embassy Cinema and seeing the real Mount Doom. Was looking at some of the postcards last night and thinking - oh dear. We just gotta go back. Beautiful place but very very expensive to live there - especially for cheese and wine addicts like ickle Iz.

Tuesday was feeling grumpy and frumpy and did not feel like going to work. But just as I was about to get on the broomstick - noticed a long cylindrical object standing next to it. It was addressed to Iz and looked most likely to be a poster but there was no time to peek or to unlock the door and put it inside. We did have our suspicions about who could have sent it. It was probably one of the ladies who had recently moved from the Izzie area who I used to always meet down at the local pond where I would sit at night listening to the froggies croaking. But it was funny how the Izzie mood instantly changed to delight and expectation.
It turned out to be a card and an utterly gorgeous and very green poster of a FROG. The Izzie suspicions were proved correct.
Just as well we had some green paper and ink to write a squishy thank you letter.

All the folks at work were asking if it bothered Iz cycling home on her broomstick at 1pm on such a hot day. It was forecast to be 37 degrees but ended up at 40.6 Funny thing though - didn't even notice. The humidity was only 15% so it was not uncomfortable at all and unlike walking - when you bike it you get a bit of a breeze. Even Izzie can go fast enough to make a bit of a breeze.
But today was different. Only 31c but stinking nasty sticky and humid. It was like being kissed by a dozen dementors. Lucky the sea breeze came in for the afternoon and it ended up being a gorgeous day.

Since coffee shop crawls were not an option for entertainment and Iz was not in the mood to clean the house, sort stuff or study auditing text books, relied on the good old fashioned cheap evening entertainment at the Min of Fin for both Tuesday evening and today.
Nothing doing in Izzie's usual haunts so decided to investigate some new territories. Creating a new nation over at Nationstates.net brought back so many Izzie memories. Was rather surprised to see the site still running. At least this time it is not so damned slow and it is unlikely that Iz will get evicted like last time for not logging in for longer than 28 days. Now the players can make up their own issues when they get bored of the original 30.
It's a fun way to indulge one's megalomaniacal tendencies and infinitely easier than having to invent a bunch of worlds and languages like a certain English professor did. Oh and joined another website for folks who like to do just that sort of thing too.
Iz was getting bored and then went for a quick slink in the Chamber of Serpents to make the sad discovery that it has been infected by the virulent serpent flu that has an incubation of 30 days and then kills its posts.
Iz just hates that. Seems to be a dreadful allergy to the past in certain corners of Cyberia. Sad really. Imagine if Live Journal decided to introduce such a policy - locking comments and then deleting posts after 30 days.
Naaaa. Iz is a pack rat at heart. Lucky we got loads of space. I just find it so hard to throw stuff out. Vernon and Petunia are also clutterbugs. The Izzie sister on the other hand is a rebel and an absolute minimalist. But when you live in Amsterdam you gotta be ruthless because people are packed in that place like sardines.
