Found lodging for the night in Bree. Embarrassed myself after drinking too much beer. Forgot they serve real stuff, not just 3.2, in Bree.
Rescued by Dr. Strider, who claims to be Gandalf's post-doc. At least he knows of my project and is willing to give me advice. It is rather disturbing, however, to work with someone who has gone for some 90 years without getting a job offer.
Dr. Strider says the men in black are members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Jewelry (PETJ). They are very dangerous, and will stop at nothing to prevent my research from going forward."
