Time is ticking by slowly and soon all our questions will be answered when the series sadly comes to a conclusion. The Great White Witch has been ever so helpful in tossing about a few hints.

Izzie was not there to ask a few of her own.
Well, this is what Iz wants to know

"What exactly has Snape done to earn the trust of Professor Dumbledore?"
"What were the other two Snape memories in the Pensieve?"
"Will Harry survive the series?"
"Who was the nosy creature who sneaked off half way through the prophecy?"
"Will there be any further consequences to the fact that Wormtail owes his wretched little life to Harry's mercy?" (Reminds Iz just a bit too much of Frodo's pity for Gollum)

Izzy, may I call you Izzy? It was exactly this sort of plot tension that drove me so crazy I decided to stop reading harry potter and another series called the wheel of time all together until they're finished. I am a slave to curiosity and with me ... it's a harsh master.

Izzie missed out on the tension of the first four books because I only discovered them in 2001 and they were all available at that time. But as well as the terrible affliction of having to wait for the next fix -there is something exciting about speculating about what happens next.
In some ways it makes you far more involved with the story and it is so fascinating to see all the different speculations and then to be able to smugly announce "I told you so" (Izzie has not yet been able to indulge in this particularly obnoxious behavior )

Look at it this way, once the whole series is published, such speculations will no longer be possible. I wonder what it was like back in the fifties when all the Ringwraiths were speculating on the contents of each instalment of Lord of the Rings?

Curious to know how far you got before you gave up?

I finished the goblet of fire which is probably the worst position to have stopped in since the earlier books could be read without the tension of knowing that Voldemort was back.

Oh yes, that behaviour is certainly interesting, I don't know how extreme it gets in harry potter but in the wheel of time I'd compare it to a bunch of religious clerics arguing over a religious text. In other words, you get people quoting individiual passages and bringing in arguments about quantum physics.

Normally though, that kind of behaviour is not to my liking. I love discussing the philosophical implications of things in these books (the ones i get or understand which I often don't *shrugs) but predicting the future thing leaves me uncomfortable. I'm one of those people that's really bad at guessing it and so it makes the plot twists more exciting for me when they come out of left field.
