Izzie has slunk by the nasty net cafe for a few precioussss minutes of Goblin free online time.
Nasty stinking horrible things they are and get worse and worse each year. But this will be the last. Is already time to bother with horrid things like bean counters cocktail parties and resume submissions and Iz cannot bear to think about it all on top of tons of assignments and this is only our second week.

Those 3 months of freedom seem like an eternity ago - and seem so recklessly wasted with 20/20 hindsight. All those best of intentions and oh so little achieved.
The nastiness started on the first day of March at 8am. Iz was not amused to discover that vile Vimala was the lecturer. Well she is not that bad - it was the only word that rhymed - like she is not nasty, just very very boring and speaks in a horrid high pitched staccato voice. If she wasn't Indian she could almost pass off that accent as German. Had her three years ago in those dark greenless days and did not take too long before Iz stopped going to lectures.

Not a good start at all. At least Tuesday was a goblin free day. Wednesday we had a fascinating 3 hour class with a rather entertaining lecturer. Though that is not quite the right word. It is a mixture of lecture and discussion and whatever and of course yukky group presentations.
Thursday was the day that Iz was dreading. While I'd already got two unit outlines and dates for assignments and stuff - this was all chicken feed compared to the awful auditing unit that I dumped last year coz it was so utterly nasty. If the unit outline recommends spending a minimum of 12 hours per WEEK on the thing, then you know it's gotta be bad.
Did some bits of housework and laundry at home before slinking off to the Secret Garden Cafe en route to the Jaws sushi bar in the city for happy hour. Had the usual munchies plus free tea and smelly Dobby Socks miso soup and also got some of the take away nori rolls which were also 30% off (that's if you turn up after 3.30pm Monday to Thursday only)
At 5pm or so was time to get the bus since the Izzie lecture was at 6pm.
So there was Iz lurking around 'Mirkwood University' gobbling her sushi and watching the sun going down feeling most miffed that by the time it would be setting ,would be sitting in a lecture hall bored senseless. Also got all drooly and slushy admiring the dappled sunlight on some very pretty green ferns that were in various stages of unfurling. Such pretty little green spirals they were too.
What a pleasant surprise to find a different lecturer who just oozed competence and character - so unlike the sad twit from last time who had delusions of grandeur concerning the importance of the profession and spouted a whole lot of rubbish about independence, ethics and integrity. Don't worry. Buy Enron. Thats' Izzie's opinion on auditors' ethics.
The lecture slides were also totally different. This one seems to have a view of the big picture.
It was so amusing. After the lecture when we all pottered off to the tutorials - of which there was three - everyone wanted to be in her class. Not just because she is the unit controller and they were a bunch of brown noses but rather because most of them were oldies like Izzie with day jobs and know the real thing when they see it.
It was so funny. When she called out the roll - if you ain't on the list, you ain't in the class - just about everyone made an audible sigh of relief when their names got called and they knew they got in her class. Iz was one of the lucky ones too.
Funny - the class I dreaded more than anything turned out to be interesting and entertaining.
