Odds and ends

izmeinaIzzie has been a good little goblin. Just spent the last two hours typing silly summaries for a project due on Wednesday 16 April. We are supposed to not just summarize the stories which are all related to the Internet and electronic commerce but also to relate them to the relevant chapters in the text book. Iz figures -will get the stories done and can then do the chapter padding bits later.
If I didn't have a class here tomorrow at 8am would be almost tempted to stay slinking in Cyberia all night.
Iz has got no netcafe time this week until Tightarse Tuesday and will not be visiting Petunia's place until Easter Sunday.
Normally I would be sitting at home under the stars at this hour on a Sunday but yesterday a girl house elf wanted to swap shifts with Iz since her boyfriend's family had invited her to a barbeque for lunch. Suited Izzie fine working 7-1 instead of 3-9. Did have hopes of watching the almost full moon rising but it turned out to be cloudy so instead been lurking at the Min since 7pm.
Did finally make it to the Zoo after two whole months absence. The latest new thing is going to be a reptile nursery. It's not quite ready yet. Iz missed her serpentine friends and will be ever so delighted to see the baby snakies. Chameleon Dragons and womas are particularly cute when little.
Izzie is now exactly 6 years in the lair. Time sure does fly. Got the bank statement the other week and was surprized with just how little I've managed to pay off in all that time in spite of the endless scrimping and saving. But I did get new lino and a wall for the front garden, not to mention goblin fees and one trip to Kuala Lumpur and another to Middle Earth. So I guess if the Iz wasn't cheating and double dipping- would have made much more progress.
Tuesday is one of those crazy goblins CPA graduate recruitment cocktail party thingies. Speakers from various companies turn up and then the employers and wannabee employees meet and mingle and suss each other out. The Chartered Accountant mob always have their Graduate Recruitment evenings on some Monday in March and Iz always misses out because we need about four weeks advance notice to get days off at work.
Iz was relieved to discover that they don't want people to bring their CVs to the meeting. Iz should have updated hers during those 3 months off but didn't. First thing is to tweak the name. Part of that website assignment last year was to make an online CV and link to it. Iz did the link but made sure it was pretty damned well hidden and even so was not going to be using real names so decided to be Daisy Dursley for the day. The minute the assessments were finished -went and zapped the link.
After following the spam trail that the Cat so kindly provided - Iz just never ceased to be amazed at the evil ingenuity of so many of those online scams. Not stupid stuff like those Nasty Nigerians but clever fake bank websites and such.
Iz refuses to get a credit card - considering them to be just as dodgy in Mundane muggle land as in Cyberia. I mean - you can buy stuff on the phone with a credit card - like buying tickets to shows and concerts where you talks to a human instead of typing in numbers. How dodgy is that? They don't even have a signature to look at -not that that means much anyway. It's just such a pity that some one wouldn't invent some safer and cheap form of paying for stuff online. But then again - Iz should stay away from temptation. There is so much good free stuff out there anyway.
Tomorrow Iz has a day off - requested about 6 weeks ago - for a spot of moon watching. I just hope that it's not going to be dull grey and cloudy.
So far for the rest of this year am not working or at classes for every full moon except the one in August. Must be off on the broomstick. Don't think I will stay here after all.
