Lest We Forget
26/04/2004 09:15 pmStrange coincidences. Recently in one of Izzie's usual haunts was a small exhibition of photographs from the Ghost Town of Pripyat' in the Ukraine.
Shortly after this one of the Izzie LJ friends posted about a site about some one on her travels there.
Since today is the 18th anniversary of the accident at Chernobyl, Iz figures it's just the right time to add the link here too.

But thank you for the link. Absolutely wonderful pictures.
Absinthe, Anyone?
Iz loves this woman's wicked sense of humour. Not just the drinks but photos of the May Day banners which she describes as "This happy horseshit"
Iz thinks that she now has a new name on her list of 'must see' places. The sort of place where the Diva of Dementors would feel most at home. I guess it's a sort of shrine for those folks still living in fantasy land and nostalgic for the good old days of the Soviet Union. (The land where time stood still) But then again - there is always North Korea where nothing bad ever happens.

No wonder people feel nostalgic sometimes. It's a great burden to be responsible for your own choices, and have to blame yourself for those misfortunes. Far easier to blame the state. More reassuring, somehow, like having parents.
