Clutching at twigs

izmeinaIzzie slinks in from a very nice picnic by the sea. A most worrying sign indeed that she is becoming sort of normal since Solstice picnics are usually just between the Iz and her ratty friends. But there was five folks tonight including the Iz and we had lots of yummy nibblies and a very pretty sunset.
So Iz is feeling quite relaxed and infinitely less frazzled and confuzzled like earlier today. The weather has been simply exquisite but the Iz seems to be running around a lot lately like a headless chook and seems to have forgotten the art of living in the present.
Something about the end of this year is reminding the Iz rather too much of December 2001 and looks like we will once again have to invent all sorts of rituals to do a proper goodbye. Iz is sick of saying goodbyes this year but will have to make space for just one more. Since back in May when Claire died, the Iz well and truly fell off her broomstick and has never quite got back on again. While most of 2002 was spent up in the air all high and happy, this year has well and truly been a return to the ground.
Being befuddled, grumpy and cranky and particularly sensitive to noises and sudden movements is becoming such a normal state of affairs now that the Iz wonders if she's a few twigs short of a broomstick. Maybe it's too many late nights or some nutritional deficiencies or even some throwback to that nasty bug from back in July. Even that awful taste like that side effect from those antibiotics is back and this time it cannot possibly be them because that was over three months ago now.
Not sure how much of it is nerves about the prospect of looking for Goblin jobs which is a much nastier and vicious place to work than House elf territory.
Among the bean counters, one is much more likely to encounter the likes of Cornelius Fudge and all sorts of power hungry brown nosers and back stabbers. Iz also is worried about just how much of this stuff she has learnt over the last five years is still any use, the bits of it that she still remembers. Like most things - it truly is a case of "Use it or lose it"
Life has simply been way too exciting for the Iz lately. A lot of changes and a lot of things ended. And some of these forseen and others most unexpected. Izzie has indeed been living in interesting times.
