izmeinaIzzie was at the university bookshop to find out the latest in the pathetic pod saga.
Way back in March, when the Iz purchased her Precioussss, she also took advantage of the special 'Cram and Jam' offer to get a pipsqueak at the same time which would attract a $$200 rebate.
Rich bitches with credit cards could order online and get their rebate deducted directly. But Izzie is a poor pitiful house elf and had to pay cash and then send off all the silly forms.
Got copies of hundreds of various bits and pieces required for this rebate - including mutilating the packaging to send off the serial numbers and stuff. (They wanted the cardboard and all - the sticker alone was not sufficient) Sent this damned thing by registered mail only to be told four weeks later that some baby junior clerk too gutless to sign her name to the claim had rejected our claim because as far as they were concerned, the Izzie student card had expired.
Took up the issue with the store last week and the latest gossip is that that the Apple idiots had expected a certain response level to this offer and hardly a few weeks into the promotional period, it had been well and truly exceeded. So they came down like a ton of bricks and started investigating claims and finding that lots of applicants were not students at all. So basically - the folks who got in first got away with it and then they went overboard with rejections towards the end and Izzie was one of them. As far as they were concerned, our card had expired because it had a 2004 student union sticker on it but not a 2005 and the uni here does not have expiry dates.
The guy in the shop called up Izzie's details on the university database and we are still there. But faxing that was not good enough for the apple arseholes.
They wanted nothing but the originals plus this proof of student status. Never mind that we had already sent this shit and they had returned it. There is no incentive for the scumbags to honour the Izzie rebate other than goodwill but we will try again anyway. It was very nice of the shop guy to print out this database statement and sign and date it. He did not have to do it at all as there was nothing in it for them anymore. But he was also pissed off with the incompetent idiots in the Apple marketing department.
So, yet again, more precious time and money to be wasted on registered post and stuff . At this rate it will be Christmas before we see those two hundred silver sickles if ever at all. But we have nothing to lose.
But aside from that - the main point of this post is to tell all other podniks out there to get clicking and listen to a most fascinating program from Radio National about a wonderful writer of fairy tales and a sad saga of witch hunts(Thursday 2nd June 2005)
Izzie is an absolute podcast addict. Now we get our favorite programs whenever and wherever we want them. No more tyranny of time or place.
Only thing left now is to work out how to keep stuff on the pod and dump it from the Preciousss so we are not taking up valuable storage space with two copies of everything.
