izmeina: a snippet of Escher's circle of serpents (goblinsnake)

Been a wet windy day. Just perfect for procrastinating or tossing the alarm clock into the bin. But the Izzie was a good serpent and did get up nice and early in order to be in downtown Dursleyville for 7am.
The Izzie was at her public speaking group this morning. Not much interesting happened.

One thing the Izzie did do was get that damned Apple application form sent off by registered post. This time we had included the original of the student database entry with Izzie on it that the guy in the shop had kindly printed out, dated and signed. We have the sneaking suspicion that the baby junior clerks will once again reject the claim – this time because the product barcode, serial number and all that does not consist of the whole packaging but only the upper cardboard layer – the reason for that being that the bimbo who processed the claim had removed it. Well – guess we were lucky that she actually sent the whole thing back instead of just the unsigned rejection slip. Sure glad that we are not dying for these 200 silver sickles.
So taking into account the cost of photocopies and two lots of registered mail (did not have to register it but the Izzie does not trust these slimy bastards) we are now approaching a cost of 6 or 7 sickles applying to get this rebate and that is not including the one hour of the Izzie time or the time, phonecalls and photocopies of the folks in the shop where we got the gadgets from in the first place.

But the other interesting event of the day was dropping by our workplace in order to check the roster for Izzie's shifts. Back on Wednesday. Boo hoo.
Dearest Dolores was not there. That was the whole point of turning up around 5pm.
But one thing we did see – the goblins are running rampant in that place – was the minutes of a laundry and cleaners staff meeting held last Wednesday.

The Izzie thought she was seeing things. The building has 42 residents but is now twice the size it used to be with about 4 times as many bathrooms and toilets. But the big bad boss has now decided that one six hour laundry shift five days a week and two five hour cleaning shifts five days a week are sufficient to keep the place running smoothly. So there is going to be NOT ONE single cleaning or laundry staff over the whole weekend!!! (wages are higher on weekends) The carers will be expected to do all the cleaning as well as their usual jobs and the fact that there is already one less carer on weekends to save money is apparently not taken into consideration at all. Izzie just cannot believe how cheap and nasty these people are getting.
Let's guess how often the cleaners will be taking sickies on Mondays when this new mean lean regime comes into effect.

But the bit that the Izzie just utterly adores – the very last sentence of the minutes of this cleaners' meeting “Development of a strong team will enhance the feeling of job satisfaction” Now that's what you call Ownership and Dedication of commitment to the Vision! Oh and did we mention identifying common needs and synergistic end states?
