Izzie has returned from a relatively uneventful evening at work. Had the itsy bitsy teeny weenie 5-9 shift today. Was a glorious sunny day too. Normally would potter off to downtown Dursleyville or the zoo or something and then go to work from there. Had not quite decided which it would be – either the Zoo or our favorite lunatic asylum but in the end, the Iz just stayed at home and lurked about and snoozed in the garden.
After last night's munchie fest, was too tired to bother with anything else. Not just because having 4 morning shifts in a row as of Sunday means that today was our only chance for 11am snoozies but simply because the Izzie's little green cells were overloaded with too much happening and simply wanted to veg out.

Our little munchie fest turned out very well. But the Iz always ends up going overboard and making far too much stuff.
So now we have oodles of noodle and potato salad as well as cheeses galore.
Came up with the bright idea – instead of making the usual garlic bread with butter wrapped in tin foil – instead – would grab some of the dough from the bread we were baking that day and knead some freshly pressed garlic into it before the second rising.
Also made hummous for the first time – cheating by getting the chickpeas in a tin rather than soaking and cooking them. Did not follow a recipe but just tossed in some lemon juice and sesame seed paste and let the kitchen wand do the rest. What a cool gadget it is = a couple of good knives and a this wicked little wand is the only things Izzie really needs in the kitchen.

Made the pasta salad the night before but was quite surprised at how much it was possible to get done in the space of 3 hours from 4pm until they turned up just after 7pm.
The last thing on the list was the orange juice. Had grabbed about ten oranges from our own tree at the Lair and squeezed them all into a jug just before the guests of honour arrived. Can't get much fresher than that. Unfortunately, one of them cannot drink orange juice because it is too acidic for his stomach. He also does not eat any other citrus fruit or tomatoes.

It really is funny how folks are so impressed if you bake your own bread – especially using yeast which has an undeserved reputation for being sneaky and unpredictable.
Izzie popped down to the local bottle shop to get some inkpots. When the Izzie has visitors, she sticks to the devils she knows. Yesterday's choice was Ingoldby Shiraz. A bit decadent for every day especially when it is normally $$18-20 a bottle. But we knew that Vintage Cellars had it on sale for $$13. Also got another little number called Pepperjack from the Barossa.
The folks from down the road also brought their own bottle. Iz figures that it is proper protocol to use theirs as the second bottle (so as not to be accused for hogging it all for oneself) Bottles with gimmicky names like “Finders Keepers” are always a bit suspect and especially when there's such blurb as “Finders Keepers brings you all the luck you need – with fresh enjoyable wines for any occasion”
No. Felix Felicitas – it certainly wasn't – just a sad wimpy watery wannabee. Tried both this thing and the Pepperjack this evening – hard to believe they came from the same planet let alone the same area (Barossa)

But aside from a very successful munchfest, which was as much planning and preparation as luck, the Iz did have another happy moment on discovering a little white slip of paper at work approving our request for two weeks holiday 17-30 August.
Two Dementor free weeks and a chance to go getting a REAL job! Time to try our luck joining the Dark Side.
