Not as nasty as Mr Leunig who got blasted for a pretty snarky Ariel Sharon cartoon.

But while he got screamed and bitched at - the newspaper did not sack him (but gave him right of reply)and you certainly did not get all of Israel and half the Jewish diaspora queueing up outside his door to chop his head off or refusing to eat Aussie wheat or sheep. (They were saving them for Saddam Hussein)

In contrast, draw or say silly, snarky or plain satirical things about certain other folks and very nasty things can happen

Compared to "Piss Christ" - these snarks at Mohammed are positively petty. But the difference in response is not. (The Iz did find the Piss Christ thing quite offensive but instead of shooting the bugger - would much rather get a photo or statue of them and subject it to similar indecent treatment. )
Fight words with words and pictures with pictures. It is a sign of maturity and manners.

Now it's such a pity that we don't even like Danish cheese. Their ham is - well not kosher and the butter cookies are just not as nice as other fattening things like Lindt Chocolate. Oh why was the cartoonist not Belgian? Iz does not need an excuse to buy Leonidas choccies
