Yesss. Sums it up really. The sorts of folks who get their knickers in a knot over a cartoon are probably the same ones who behead hostages in Iraq.
Izzie can understand why people could find those Danish drawings offensive but the best remedy is to publish your own cartoons like this one

to get the point across rather than going on murderous rampages

Translation of above cartoon and some hairy scary comments

More cute cartoons

Tillykke, Jyllands! Glad to see they´re not backing down. Not that it´ll get the messagge across some very thick turbans eyeclaps, but it´s enough if it reminds everyone ELSE the difference. Where do you find such good stuff?

Izzie got a tip off for the first from our favorite radio station. They did an interview with a local cartoonist. Not Leunig but still pretty snarky. So we consulted the Oracle of Google to get the piccie he was talking about.

The other is the source of lots of juicy morsels - an lj community Political Cartoons (http://community.livejournal.com/politicartoons/)
Here is a sample - not related but very cute

You're right about the scary comments, but it seems in that particular case the debate has sunk to an all time low. Of the comments I did read they all seemed offensive, but then I'm not going to firebomb them for it.

You just wonder how many times parts of the Muslim population can shoot themselves in the foot. The type of reaction, manufactured as some of it was, just confirms in the minds of bigots and not so bigotted people that Muslims are all fanatics, ready to bomb you or burn your house down. It's through images like those appearing on the news screens that it's no wonder that one out of two children in Victoria when responding to a survey said that "Muslims were Terrorists" with no exceptions as quoted in The Age this morning.

As some one said in some recent post about these cartoons "Why do so many Muslims have such long toes?"

Iz found a most interesting post from a moderate Muslim bemoaning the numbers of blind followers.
As he puts it so well concerning the pictures of protesters' placards that he posted
I am only forwarding the importance of Muslims realizing that THOSE are the signs that we should be worried about. Not the cartoons. (http://yamansalahi.livejournal.com/18237.html#cutid1)

Yes this particular discourse is much more intelligent. It's a pity that the voices of moderate Muslims are drowned out by the fools screaming for "Jihad".

Agreed, to the point of linking this post from my own diary.
