A quick squiggle before Izzie slinks off into the serpent basket. Been yet another glorious crisp crunchy and sunny day. Kept to the new rule of no pottering in Cyberia during daylight hours - after ruining a perfectly gorgeous Sunday last week by breaking this rule, was quite easy to resist temptation.

Was at Petunia's place as usual on Sunday evening. Lazy Izzie did not get up until 10am. Had been online the night before and still no owl from our ickle sister in reply to the one we sent a week ago. Most mightily miffed is the Izzie. So the ma suggests ringing her from their place.
Apparently she's going to Maastricht with hubbie and baby froggie some time in September but was not forthcoming with the date at all. But the Iz needs to know since we need to decide if we book the Floo Network for London or Amsterdam. The Izzie hols start on Wednesday 20th September so this is most relevant indeed. Turns out that they are going on the 29th which is just perfect. Not only can we go straight to Amsterdam but also go with them to Maastricht for a few days before slinking off to Emden and the rest of the grand D'land tour.

But then the ma adds an evil twist. Part of the reason for choosing 20th September was so that we would be still in Oz for Petunia's 65th birthday which is two days earlier. But her sister in Ireland is sick with kidney problems and leukemia so she will be going back to visit her sooner rather than later but has every intention of being in London for her birthday and then coming with the Iz to Amsterdam.

So, this will mean adding an extra week. Just put in a written request at work today. Will be most interesting to see if it is accepted or not. If so - will finally be able to fix our Floo connections and hopefully have it all sorted out before the end of the month.

The afternoon also consisted of pottering to the Vintage Cellars around the corner and buying some bottlies and then sitting on the veranda in the sunshine with a glass or two. Since Iz was working a pissy little 5-9 today - this was perfectly possible as long as we were sober for 4pm or so.

Just when things could not get any more merrier, turns up at work to find out that the flouncy bouncy and most pathetic of poltergeists was on his last shift today because the boss finally bit the bullet and sacked the flaky fruitcake. After ringing in sick or unable to work for 6 of the seven shifts on his roster for the last fortnight - even these soft little slushpots realised that this was going too far - especially since they often had to replace him with rather expensive agency staff. But the reason they were so reluctant - Izzie found out by accident when looking in the time sheets and holiday requests folder that the little lump of shit was from one of those work for the dole schemes and they were getting a big fat subsidy of $$2,750 to keep him for six months. So pathetically cheap and nasty. Never mind that he was slow, useless and insufferably arrogant and pissed off just about every house elf who had the misfortune of working with him - including many of the most placid and pleasant folks imaginable.

So, it's been a pretty productive day for the Izzie. Not much done but lots of good news and useful information.
